*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

First wash today.

Nothing much to report but I really need to get myself a DI vessel due to the amount of black plastic on this car! Picked up a Autoglym ceramic kit with a Halfords voucher I had so will do a full polish when I have a long weekend off.

Just basic Collinite 476S on the front end and Vista Concept on the tyres.

That brake dust looks really caked on those wheels. Scrub harder and you’ll get them shiny again.

Yeah I am not a fan of the wheels yet my 16 year old daughter loves them. That's the demographic we are dealing with these days. They are more of a dark bluey grey than a black though so are bearable till I decide to get them redone.

That looks great, is there no indicator in the mirror so it needs the one in the bumper?

Can recommend Gyeon Rim for the wheels, I've got my new ones coated and they are so much easier to clean.

Anyone tried Glaco Glass Compound?

For the last few months, I've been fighting an issue with my windscreen. Looks perfectly clean most of the time, but there's evidently some residue on it from something; early morning, the screen goes nearly opaque when a low sun hits it. It's definitely not on the inside. Last couple of washes I've clayed the glass, and also gone over the whole screen with AG Glass Polish, but doesn't seem to touch it. Looks clean, until I go for an early drive again :( Only thing I haven't tried is cleaning with alcohol; but I would have thought that if a clay bar doesn't shift it, then nothing will. Not sure where it came from; I've never coated the glass. When I the ceramic coating applied, they said the glass was treated with something else (I'm going to assume GTechniq G1 or similar). But I wouldn't have thought that was the cause of the problem, nor would I have thought it would survive a clay bar.

I've seen people talking about this Glaco glass treatment range, and the first step for all of them includes a compound specifically designed for thoroughly cleaning and prepping the glass and getting rid of any previous treatment, traffic film, etc. Looks like it's slightly abrasive. It's £10.99 on Amazon so I'm taking a punt on it, just wondered if anyone here had used it and can vouch for it.

If that doesn't work, I may consider talking to the detailer and seeing if they can try machine polishing the glass.

@adam cool dude How are you finding the car?

It is really good. I took my son out in it after nursery and had to stop because he started to feel sick! It really hooks up round the bends even keeping it under 4k revs.

I am not going to lie the clutch isn't the easiest but have adjusted the pedal and waiting for new springs to arrive which should fix it. Things might change though as I have only done 130 miles in it so far so it might still be breaking in.

I haven't amended the clutch on mine, first 5 mins is the worse until it warms up. Got used to how it is.
Glad you're enjoying it!

Yes, it's great. Wash the glass well first and follow the instructions and it'll strip everything off the screen. Whether that will cure your issue, I do not know however.

If you get the ultra glaco too it makes for a great pairing. If you get judder (which you shouldn't) some of it in the blades should cure it.
