*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I’d be reluctant to use anything on it without a good supply of water, in case you don’t get all the product out and it dries, potentially damaging it :(
Cleaning a soft top isn't a job for the fainthearted, but it's not too hard! A brush, bottle of APC diluted down accordingly and a bucket or stream of water is more than sufficient :)

Bilt Hamber Touchless in a sprayer (weed sprayer type thing)

Bilt Hamber Auto Wash

Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels

You’ll never need anything more for a great quality clean.

Have you tried snow foam in a non foam sprayer ?

If you just got a hose, then agreed with that, but I'd use auto wash for wheels , auto wheels if and when you need the punch

Yeah I regularly use it in a non foam sprayer. Lasts a lot longer, but in the summer it dries too quickly

Would recommend for winter months.

Use your hands… :D
I used to work backstage at music festivals, and one time, someone duct taped a rag to a broom. It became the defacto standard for sweeping the stage between performances.

If nothing exists for windscreen cleaner, then man shall once again, duct tape a rag to a stick and see if life is improved!

Chaps,

Is there any genius method for cleaning windscreens internally? Or do I just use the tools at the end of my wrists?
I hate cleaning the inside of the windscreen, no matter how meticulously I do it, I always seem to find smearing later on. Best thing I've found to alleviate this it getting hold of a proper waffle weave microfibre and using that, at least for the final buffing stage - normal microfibres always seem to leave lint. And apply the glass cleaner directly to the cloth, not to the screen, otherwise you might end up applying too much which makes buffing it off harder.
I turn my hand over for the bottom half
Matron!

It's car cleaning, there's always a product you can spend money on :p

Why put a rag on a stick when someone in China will do it for you?

Edit - I particularly like the inclusion of glass shattering hammer functionality in the glass cleaning stick, what could possibly go wrong.
I like this. But I am suspicious -

The bottom image, it is a ladies hair style.
Edit: but yeah, this is what I was after.

Does snow foam actually work as per the instructions? I’ve used Polar Wash followed by Polar Blast and there’s always muck left behind on the car. It’s like the foams just sit on top of the dirt and don’t soak into it for washing off. Is it just me or am I missing something?

It's like adverts for razors. The dude always has a clean shave under the foam. You need to start with a clean car :D

There are sticks and stuff but I can never get enough pressure

Yes, depends on the product, I’ve never had issues with the AG stuff, how are you applying?

I did a naughty... I went through the IMO carwash. My son likes the multi colored foams...
TBH... it didn't do a bad job on the 440i. Its white... and its clean after.

(Yes, im terrible. However, its due to go to a detailer in a couple months. So any tiny micro scratches now will be removed anyway)

Polar Blast should be used before Polar Wash (which is for the contact washing stage), though assuming that's just typed the wrong way round.

With the AutoGlym trio, I would expect the foaming stage to be a bit more effective once it's had a few applications of Polar Seal.

Personally, I don't think Polar Blast is as good as the BiltHamber equivalents in terms of actual cleaning power, it seems to be formulated a bit more on the 'show foam' side of things to me, but it should still be doing more than nothing.

Yes, typed the wrong way. I’ve never got to the Polar Seal stage as I’ve not been able to get the car clean enough. At the moment I’m going to have to hand wash it first but I’d like to know why the snow foam application doesn‘t work.

@Hyburnate I’m applying the foams using a Kercher pressure washer with a snow foam attachment. It’s not the best but the foam does foam up and does apply well. The only possible issue is that it never sticks to the car and starts dripping off within a minute or so.

The foaming thing works much better once you've given the car a good clean and got a decent sealant/wax on there.

If you're just using the Karcher attachment, I doubt that's getting the foam thick enough for Polar Blast to work particularly well, I don't think it's got the cleaning power to do a worthwhile job if it's running off quickly, it needs some decent dwelling time. (Edit - make sure the car isn't wet first too, otherwise the foam will be running off well before it has a chance to do anything useful)

Snow foam or any pre wash is not designed to clean your car 100%
According to the blurb on the cartons it is but I suspect this is only the case if the car is relatively clean already

I was thinking that. Thanks all for the info
