*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I've pretty much ran out of my Poorboys Natural Look Dressing. It's lasted ages!

Is there anything else to try or should I just order some more as I've always been happy with it? :)

Forgive me for being stupid, do you use these to dry your paintwork?

These are Glass Cloths - Short Pile (If any at all, lint free) No where near soft enough to be used on paintwork, or absorbent enough.

For paint work you would want a much larger, thicker, softer and extremely absorbent drying towel.

Check out any “Drying Towel” section on popular car cleaning sites, huge ranges to choose from.

I personally like Twisted Loop Towels - They aren’t as Soft and Plush as some towels but are extremely absorbent and used correctly are easily soft enough.

No I wouldn't
You want a drying towel

Yeah it was just the bit where you said about the entire car, thought it was a unique drying solution (I hate the drying, especially in cold weather!)

Ah understood! I meant more than enough fresh sides for a single cars entire glass.

Drying is my least favourite part, I’ve been considering a Raceglaze Water Filter (Essentially you can leave it wet and it will dry naturally with little to no water spots)

Or a most likely option for me is one of the heavy duty car blowers, my car is always Hydrophobic which is required for these to be a viable option of contactless drying.

If using drying towels, I’ve found using one to go around quickly removing the majority and then follow up with another towel to remove anything left over, as it’s completely dry it’s effortless and you aren’t causing wet smears from an overly saturated towel.

Has anyone tried anything like this ?

Recently tried out Gtechniq’s new ceramic shampoo.

It’s super weird having the buckets full of cold water, and in the winter I think it would be quite grim, but it does leave a nice finish. It also makes drying REALLY easy with a blower.

Would recommend as a product which makes the cleaning process quicker and easier.

I’m in need of Shampoo - Tempted to try a Ceramic Infused as mentioned above.

Usually go for Shampoo’s without Gloss Enhancers (Excluding AB Purple Velvet)

Does anyone change to a specific Shampoo come winter, something with abit more “Bite”? Although suppose amount used can be increased for more cleaning power.

TW Hybrid Solutions - Slick n Slide has caught my eye, as well as TAC’s Mystic Bubble.

Honestly can’t go wrong with Bilt Hamber. It’s incredibly good at shifting dirt.

The Gtechniq is great at keeping the hydrophobic layer but if you’re not fussed about that, I’d go Bilt Hamber. Mine has lasted 4 years so far.

Car Pro Reset i think is the one i would get if you want "no wax" or any inhibiters for you to then decontaminate and re-seal/wax/ceramic at your leisure

otherwise BH Auto Wash would be the one id get

but washing is dying, its all about the Rinsleess wash going forward

Auto Wash does indeed get plenty of praise, I shall take a look.

I like to keep my car extremely Hydrophobic but usually enjoy the process of going round with a Finishing Towel + Finishing Product to keep the properties maintained.

Fairly inexpensive to do as a little goes a long way, also something like Sonax BSD I tend to dilute 50/50.

Never really used Rinseless Wash - I’m not knocking but I’ve always had easy access to a water supply.

I know it’s safe if you have a technique dialed in but I imagine the process would feel quite Alien to me, imagine one bad wash and you could easily inflict plenty of love marks.

I like the 303 aerospace stuff as it’s not as greasy but if you like it and it works no harm in sticking.

Managed to give the new car a quick wash yesterday. Need to order a load of stuff as I’ve not got any clay or tar remover to do any polishing at the minute and as I’ve bought the worst colour ever for showing anything I could do with decent polish with the DA!

This is my issue with snowfoam......

It's like I've not even done anything.....

I can citrus it, foam it do any of that and nothing moves...
I've tried so many diff things, even DA and started again, whatever I do, muck just sticks. Even Gyein wet coating it still sticks.
Wheels are cermaic coated, they clean up and bead well, but only with contact washing.

I've tried BH touchless, but even that isnt great.

I always need a contact wash, but others seem to able to get away with just a snowfoam.
