Champions League Spoilers 21st/22nd Feb

I think Muorinhos' mouth is why people aren't more appreciative of Chelseas' achievements tbh.Take tonights game, bit of a battle up til the harshish red card, then your thinking they're in trouble here and lo and behold they come out for the second half and play some fantastic football.Real grit and determination and a lot of skill and they get a break and i was genuinely pleased for them. They fought really, really well and even when they had got to a goal behind they still went after Barca for an equaliser. All good stuff, yet at the end of the match Maureen comes on for his interview and all the teams effort is ****** away in a few seconds of his whining.Yes its a crap time to have to do an interview, yes he hates losing, yes the card was harsh but just once in a while show a little grace.

*credit where its due tho, just heard the interview on the bbc site and that is quite good - he's calmed down a bit :)

I fail to see that. You mainly pump the ball into the box for Crouch or Morientes. You're also using the long throw tactic even more of late. Bolton get slaughtered for doing that but good old Liverpool don't.

Only when we're struggling or playing badly, Man United game was prime example of us trying to keep the ball on the floor and outplay them in the midfield and it worked.

It deserved a yellow and no more.

I seem to remember him purposely stamping on the back of Diouf's knee this season.

Oh, how well you know me! :)

I dont know you at all :)

Saying we pump the ball up to those two is just plain wrong, we have been playing some good stuff of late and been playing on the floor, i guess people still think we play like we were under Houllier.

Del Horno's challenge was on Messi's knee and he didnt get the ball; it was dangerous. Although he may have been going for the ball doesnt make up for the fact he could have destroyed his knee!

Come on Diouf deserves everything he gets :p !! That was bad from Sissoko but Diouf is just a diver, plain and simple.

That doesn't say much considering our midfield ;)

Well it did at the time as you were practically employing a 6 man midfield (with rvn, rooney and saha all on) because none of your strikers could push up the field.

We were hardly gonna rely on the skill of our strikers

I hear what you're saying. :) It's just our midfield this year has been painful to watch. A bunch of scarecrows nailed into the ground would boss our midfield and take the ball of Fletcher and hold it longer.

Its amazing how good the midfield of beckham, giggs, scholes and keane were. The balance was perfect, and the loss of all those players is really showing for you boys.

I hope liverpool can get anyway near that but with gerrard and alonso i think we are half-way there; they are both class. Hope Sissoko and Kewell can rise to the challenge :)

i was supporting Arsenal last night but i just hate Chelsea all the player they got they supposed to play other Prem team off the park but what do they do they play defensive football and that just get on my nerves everytime i see chelsea play and i would rather support Manchester United then Chelsea and i am a liverpool Fan

very true, we didn't know how lucky we were back then. Liverpool are getting there and Benitez has been fantastic. There's nothing about the guy I don't like. All you need is a couple of strikers who score consistently and replace Kewell!! I can't stand that man. ;) :p

The replacement has already been bought, roll on the summer.

Ariba! Ariba! Speedy Gonzalez! :D

Yes i forgot, speedy gonzalez better get his work permit! Give Kewell some slack, he has been one of our best performers of late, and is working hard. He is only getting properly fit now and the best is still to come.

I really think Cisse has never been the same since his leg break; the guy was scoring for fun and such a bad injury has robbed us of a great player methinks.

Benitez is class; ferguson likened him to Bill Shankly recently. I really think liverpool are on the up now.

Man Utd havent been the same since Beckham left, bad move there from fergie.

.
Yea that true Cisse was a player but Rafa dont really rate him no more so Cisse will be leaving the club this summer

Unlucky Chelsea. Unlike most people here it seems, I actually wanted you to win. Country spirit and all that. With eleven men at the nou camp, you could stand a fair chance, but two goals is going to be a hard task for you. Best of luck. :)

same as me :D

i normally don't like Chelsea but i would have preferred they won

I love the connotation that the ball is simply hoofed upto crouch EVERY time. Take crouch out and there would be nothing at all said. Bolton are a route one side, i fail to see any link up play, its just a hoof into the box all the time, back to front. They try to rough teams up, as they simply don't have the ability to match them any other way. This is like Chelsea, who are technically better than bolton, but who also have their assassin/hitman in midfield (essien) kicking people. This adds to *** hatred of chelsea, and you could argue with that many milllion of pounds at their disposal they should be playing more attacking, attractive football? Lampard is a great player, but compare him to gerrard, gerrard has scored 18 goals in a team that hasn't scored as frequently as chelsea this year and his achievement begins to be put in place does it not?

Crouch has fantastic technique, the ball is played in and laid off for a midfielder to run onto, usually stevie to score. The liverpool way will never change, pass and move is the style of football that will always be demanded from the fans. The fact that we consistantly dominate teams in respect to possession is another point i'd like to add. As regards Djibril, he'll never make the grade, he simply doesn't have a football brain. Just to think, if he did have a brain, he'd be destroying teams with his pace, trouble is he often gives defenders a few yards head start as he's simply poor positionally. Also when comparing him to rooney, he's lazy. He doesn't break his neck to get on the end of balls, or chase back.

OK, we aren't quite there yet in terms of aesthetically pleasing football, week in, week out, but until we have brought in a quality striker and some pace down that right side, i can't see it happening. Wait till you see the boy gonzales develop, providing he gets a work permit, then you'll see some pace and counter attack at its finest and similarities with the valencia side that beat both real madrid and barcelona.
