Some key points:
Schumacher: I've been speaking louder and louder about MS's poor form. The further we go into the season, the bigger the beating MS is taking. Its actually becoming painful to watch such a great driver (who I rate as the most complete driver F1 has ever seen), being used as Rosberg's whipping boy. From what I saw today, of the leading teams, MS was the driver who I believe was overtaken most - the RedBulls and Hamilton seemed to be overtaking him for fun. Of the leading teams, MS is the driver who is taking the biggest beating from his team-mate. This has to be humiliating for MS and I can't believe that MS will stay in F1 if this continues.
Rosberg: Ever since he arrived at Mercedes he is showing just what he is capable of. At Williams he was very fast in qualifying/practise sessions, but was poor in races. This year, he is showing good pace in qualifying, practise and in races. I actually think it might be better that Mercedes pool their resources behind Rosberg, as opposed to MS or Vettel (who Mercedes are after). I think Mercedes need to get a good team-mate for Rosberg, who will back Rosberg up.
Hamilton: Unequivocally, the most exciting driver in F1, by a country mile. His race craft is beyond doubt. His speed is beyond doubt. His main problem is that he allows McLaren to make the pit/strategy decisions and McLaren are VERY POOR in this area. When you compare this with Button, who make his own decisions - the difference is night and day. I would go so far as to say that when Hamilton is in doubt, he should look to see which tyres Button is on and simply duplicate Button's strategy.
Button: Button doesnt have the sheer speed of Hamilton. But what he lacks in outright speed, he makes up in cool/correct strategy/pit decisions. This was a good win for him and he has done the best job that could possibly have been expected of him. 2 wins from 4 races. Were it not for Hamilton, Button would be my driver of the day. JRS could be right about Button, but I still feel once we get to the dryer circuits where strategy is less important, Hamilton will pull ahead from Button.
RedBull drivers: In the dry, RedBull have the best car...by far. In the wet though, car performance counts for less and driver input counts for more. Based on that we have to say that Vettel/Webber aren't in the same category as Hamilton/Button/Alonso. Vettel still has a little way to go to be placed in the same category. In the dry though, Vettel is just as good and RedBull have a great opportunity to win the title, with Vettel, this year.
Ferrari: I think Alonso's overtake of Massa today, was Alonso saying, "I've had enough of this!" Alonso has been stuck behind his slower team-mate in all 4 races. In Bahrain, he managed to get past during the pitstops. In the following 2 races, he was unable to get past and today, Alonso bulldozed his way past. I think Ferrari have to step in and tell Massa to release Alonso, if he is climbing all over the back of him. Massa just doesnt have the speed of Alonso.
Driver of the day: Hamilton, for putting together the most overtakes, the fastest laps and for giving the audience what they crave - excitement.
So, heading into Europe, I think we are in for a great season. The main protagonists (2 McLarens, 2 Ferraris & Vettel) are all in with a shot at the title. This is exactly what we needed and is what we are getting.
