Not convinced Vettel had the pace to challenge Lewis today, but pitlane decisions hindered him and Kimi (early change from inters, no team orders to get him past Kimi, Kimi left out far too long before second pit), while I'm still bemused Vettel escaped a penalty for being acres away from his designated grid box at the start.
 
I think there needs to be some kind of investigation into the race in general, not because it was boring. I think a lot of the boredom came from the performance of cars past 7th or 8th today. The gap behind Perez 2-3 laps after the safety car ended was insane, the speed of everyone behind Perez for half the race was very odd. Then even Perez had a weird race, early on he pulled out 15 seconds on Magnussen but later in the race he was miles behind Mag... I didn't really pay attention to how that even happened. At some point he was 20-25 seconds ahead, assuming both pitted then him ending up 15 seconds behind at one point is... odd.

There was so so little action further back from the front. Cars failing(well done Mclaren.... ) is bad enough but those who stayed in just weren't close to each other, didn't do anything. Outside of Verstappen early, Perez after the SC and Vettel a couple of times there was no one else doing anything interesting at all.

Williams, unless Massa had damage he had disgraceful pace. With Stroll we have a second Williams driver who turns into corners without checking for people on their inside.

There isn't always action at the front of a race but there is still supposed to be fighting somewhere else in the pack, middle, back, anywhere, today there was nothing else happening.
 
Decent race, Seb was unlucky the SC came out after his stop as he probably could have given Lewis a good race. Lot's of good overtaking with the drivers having to work for it which is great to see.

Same here. I can see most penalties against Ferrari going their way. It's about time charlie whiting left F1.
But...all the drivers now know they can be out of their starting box and nothing will happen.
 
That was a very boring race and it seems like the cars are more difficult to overtake than ever so they need to go back to the drawing board yet again.

I wish that idiot Croft would shut his trap. I am so fed up with him getting excited about something that most people can see clearly isn't going to happen.
 
I thought the race was actually OK, you've always had some team or teams dominating and at least we had some proper overtaking in the top 10 going on.

I would tweak DRS, I suspect they need to increase the letter box size to offset the increased drag from the front tyres, or increase the DRS distance, not too much but enough that when within the second you can get that bit closer.

I think the new longer lasting tyres are working out well, the drivers are seemingly able to push a bit more with the extra width and the compounds lasting longer is helping promote the racing IMO.

That was the biggest problem. They never went into the rule refresh with overtaking on the agenda. All they had in their brief was that 2-3 seconds a lap faster rubbish, look nicer and wide tires. At no point did they even look at will these cars be able to follow/overtake each other...

you shouldnt be surprised by this, every man and his dog predicted this. it was another rule change that totally ignored aero and over taking.
