Smart Setup has to be disabled to enable Chromecast to work though. To disable Smart Setup please see this link for a step by step guide:

Ooh, just noticed the latest Synology DSM update allows video and music streaming via Chromecast. Perfect!
For Synology NAS users with DSM 5.0:
Chromecast is a standalone device, it's not an wireless extender. It connects to the internet wirelessly like any other wireless device. You open Netflix or Youtube on your phone/tablet, connect it to the Chromecast. Open the video you want to watch then turn your phone/tablet off. The Chromecast maintains the stream to the outside servers not your phone/tablet.
