Cities Skylines 2 is Official!

Currently on a 5800X... how multithreaded is CS2?
My thinking is that lobbing a 5950X at it might be a good upgrade. Was going to sit tight for another gen or two, but this game is giving me an itchy trigger finger...

To be honest, I've been umming and ahhing about it for months anyway, this just seems like the perfect excuse :)

Did you look at the screenshot I posted earlier?

As it is, it seems quite GPU limited.

I wouldn't change out 5800x to a 5950x personally.

I'm on a 5950X and a 4090 with 64GB RAM with the game installed on a very fast Gen4 NVME drive, I can safely tell you to not waste your money. The game behaves like ass even on a 5950x and a pretty good system IMO.

Thank you. That's the feedback I was after.
I shall stick with plan A :)
It should be noted that I do play at 4k res though and as we now know, this game is hugely demanding on the GPU, and being at 4k even more so.

The fact still remains though, being very GPU intensive rather than CPU, still not worth it going from a 5800x to a 5950x. I doubt you'll seen any improvement at all.

I'm on 3440x1440 res. Think I'll stick with what I've got then, cheers for the input!

Putting teeth aside, someone noted over at Reddit about the amount of detail, textures etc that has been included on something as trivial as a bin....

almost convincing the person who noted it that there must be consideration given for one day being able to play this game in the first person. Probably to sync with the other Paradox to be game at some point "Life by you", albeit CO are the Devs of the CS series.

Playing Total War games I'm kinda used to CA releasing a blood patch, sometimes for a cost. Can you imagine CA doing something similar.....

Really tempted to pick this up but I'm wondering if it's even worth it with my current rig? People with similar rigs, what do you think? Obviously not looking for high frame rates, it's a city builder, just want it to chug along nicely.

Will be fine imo, I imagine over the next year they’ll work on performance.

What I did is use the £1 game pass offer that is/was on and tried it out that way. Not sure if you have access to the £1 trial?

Oh good shout, yes I do get the £1 game pass, brilliant, I'll check it out today!

it looks like they just took a photo of a bin bag and used it as a texture.
it's not exactly incredible detail

I'm not convinced it's really worth it right now, the games still quite buggy

it should be a 25 game...
it's on gamepass if you want to give it a try for not a lot of money

on my current map I have traffick accidents happening in the middle off no where all along the highways... only about 20k pop too
I'm talking random burning cars in the middle of nowhere
it makes me wonder if the pathing is real... or what we see is just a representation but really everything under the hood is moving in direct straight lines and accidents for some reason appear on that line miles from a road

Not seen this posted yet but the basics of traffic manager are coming…

It seems to be functionality that’s built into the game, if you remove the mod, the behaviour remains until you apply a traffic light or something and then it goes back to the default.

Nice, not quite TMPE but getting there. I've no doubt that the moment the Paradox mods system goes live TMPE CS2 and MoveIT CS2 will be ready to immediately go on there.

does anyone actually use roundabouts? from what I've seen they don't really let the traffic flow much better than a 4 way junction

the problem with traffic seems to be with how vehicles move around though blocking lanes for minutes at a time for seemingly no reason.

hopefully someone improves train tracks too, does the game have signals? I don't think I noticed any

Yeah they definitely do allow better traffic flow.

Biffa did a video youtube if you want to check it out.

It's worth having the asymetrical roads leading up to roundabouts, with the higher lane count on the queueing side.

Larger the roundabout the more lanes it has the easier the traffic flow, also (depending) it can be worth nuking the padestrian crossings around them.

On the larger intersections (space allowing) you can make one way slip roads which can also help.
