City Fibre

So been with city fibre a couple of months now and they are already jacking up the price by £4 a month! How is this practice allowed? I signed a 24 month contract for £30 a month. Criminal if you ask me.
You agreed to the contract which would have included the price rises as part of the terms and conditions.

mentioned elsewhere, talktalk gave me a "promise" that my price would be fixed for 24 months, then put it up a few months later. Just gave a politely-worded "if you don't like it, **** off."

Then contact them with proof and they more than likely will honour it.

If they don’t and you 100% have evidence go to ombudsman / ofcom or something.

A contract where your only options are agree or don’t get the service. You can hardly call up and say, “I don’t like this term, take it out”.

I suspect the question is actually "what providers offer cashback deals, low monthly prices and don't have RPI increases in the terms", and the answer to that is contained within the question.

AAISP have a good track record of 0% rises, if anything they tend to improve terms for customers over time, but they do have a higher baseline price which can put people off and isnt unmetered.

That's fine - the point that I think ChrisD was getting at is that there are options. If people want the absolute lowest cost provider they can find then the trade-off might be annual price increases that are explained in the contract.

Exactly this. There are options, some of which don’t cost that much more than those companies who bake in cost increases into their contacts. You do not have to sign up with companies that do, there is a choice.

It's annoying but it is explained in the not very small print of every broadband/phone contract I have had.

Do the maths, work out how bad CPI/RPI has to be to not make it worth it and weigh up your priorities.

Tis a bit pants that Voda were the only provider for my cityfibre connection for the first 12 months so I have 12 to go but it was £29 for gigabit and will only be £35 after the price rise (which I still haven't been informed of yet). Once the contract is up I will weigh up the options (leaning on a smaller local isp atm)

@Disco_P I'm with Vodafone, except I paid a premium to get the Pro plan with no price increases to begin with, not sure if they're still offering that.
The prices are ridiculous right now with VF, so hopefully they drop again soon.

I took a 2 year fixed price contract with Vodafone (it ends in November) and they've kept the price fixed as contracted.

I think I have a pro package as well but I certainly didn't pay extra for it and I swear there was something in my contract that the price would go up. However I don't actually have any contract docs on my vodafone user portal and I've lost my printed copy...

if you can name a Cityfibre me a provider that does Gigabit for £35 please feel free. I am yet to find one. Giganet works out at £30 with their 3 months free, but everyone else price is much higher (around £40 range)

Brillband does for me right now but it's Scotland only (cause it's better ), Vodafone often does deals on the gigabit tier.
