Civilization VI

I love civ games but hope they fix the long arse times you wait for turns in late game.

Graphics are not so important with Civ games I played Civ 1 on the amiga so not bothered.

I just hope they optimise it enough to run well when late in the game with a good few civs around.

Seriously? I felt this made Civ 5 much more tactical...

EDIT:

Ah seems this was incorrect!

Actually I don't exactly understand what the difference is!

I think it means you can support a tank with some flak on same tile, or combine for example a few infantries and make 'Infantry Platoon' unit instead of three Infantries. Definitely waiting for this, sunk many hours into Civ V

As much as I love Civ I do worry this is going to be another entry in their one step forward, two steps back approach to ruleset updates were the lacking areas aren't sorted until the inevitable expansions.

Wait for reviews methinks.

A guy on r/civ on Reddit did a colour fix of one the screenshots. Looks a lot better. If they just increase the texture resolution somewhat then I'd be really happy with it.

Also the game will appear have all of the content that Civ 5 currently has in the base game which is good, was expecting more of a shell of a game that needs 2 expansions to fix. See here. Quote:

In previous iterations of the series, certain systems were left out of the initial release, which were then added in through subsequent expansions. Beach told us, however, that all of the major systems — including espionage, religion, tourism, archaeology, and trade routes — will be in place at launch. He admits that some will be more fleshed out than others, still leaving room for later additions, but the basics will be there. Beach cited his team’s experience on Civ V’s expansions as ideal preparation for tackling the core game’s entirety.

I really like new idea behind the city buildings being spread across the land, especially when their effectiveness (and build time) is looking to be determined by land type and resources.

I cannot wait.

(I could also do without the constant whining about it not being Civ4. I sat through that for the entirety of Civ5 - give it a bloody rest already.)

Yeah this is how I read it too. The system sounds like a huge upgrade to Civ 5.

I still play my heavily modded Civ 5 fairly reguarly, and the only way to do combat really is to amass ranged units, focus fire rapidly and then send in a lone close combat troop for the kill.
I'd love to be able to add an archer unit to the Huns battering ram, or a machine gunner to the anti-air for example.

Tech research geography boosts sound interesting, I just hope that they are balanced well. Wonders having to be placed on tiles is a good shout, its very easy to wonder spam against the AI and cruise the rest of the game, and this should stop that. Sprawling cities sounds pretty cool too.

I hope they improve the happiness and luxurys system, right now it feels like a really arbitrary and harsh growth cap.

Now I've finally got around to reading an article on this I'm looking forward to it. If they deliver what they are saying I'll be grabbing it, though I guess I was kidding myslef if I ever thought I wouldn't be.
