Civilization VI

In single player, I've had no crashes. Multiplayer (where the enormous bulk of my 429 hours played is) is a different story. Thats a mess of crashes and desyncs every dozen or so turns and constant freezes and slowdowns. All of which are 100% related to Barbarians, turn off the Barbarians in multiplayer and I get no issues at all, turn on the Barbarians in Multiplayer and its crash/freeze/desync city.

Anyone noticed that since the last patch you cannot declare war on a friend? Spain is not my ally, we are only 43 turns into the game but they just settled a city right next to my capital, so I wanted to attack them...but no options too. I understand that I would not be able to as allies, but its just friendship?

Still can't get over how dissapointed I am with this game. I mean I was ready to hate it before it came out, but I thought I'd get some entertainment out of it.

Took me less than an hour to uninstall and head back to CIV5.

I played a lot of Civ5 and Civ4 before then. I still miss the AI of Civ4, but that took all the expansions to be the game we all remember. On release Civ4 wasn't great and everyone pined for Civ3. Civ 5 had issues on release too and expansions helped it along, but the poor AI choices caused many not to like it. I actually really enjoyed Civ5 and I would look past the silly AI mistakes most of the time. Civ6 for me though has been quite a clean release if you look at the history of Civ games. Yes the AI still needs work but there is a shed load of content, some after almost 200hours I have not looked into. Give me a 20hours of gameplay, if then you still dislike it then I doubt anything will change your mind.

I won't try to play it again. The whole thing just screams CivRev for PC and every time I look at it I just want to hide behind any of it's predeccessors.

Seriously, I'd go back and play CIV1 and push squares around than play this rubbish.

I enjoy it, got over 400 hours played on it (something like 1000 hours on civ5) , I only ever play marathon multiplayer games though so the biggest issue I'm having with Civ6 (and the biggest issue I've had with the other Civs too) is the unstable nature of civ multiplayer

I must be really lucky with multiplayer as I have not had any issues with Civ6. Civ5 gave many issues, but Civ6 seems stable.

For us, it seems to be barbarian related. If we have Barbarians turned on, we can guarantee that the game will desync repeatedly. If we disable Barbarians, it doesnt happen at all.

Very odd. We have always had Barbarians on without issue. Are you playing LAN or Online?

Never played it Civilization in my life, about week ago installed it and to be honest this game is very addictive. Spend few evening splaying until midnight until all AI declared war against me.
I was attacked from all directions. Not very pleasant feeling, Spanish traitors i gave them my resources......

Giving strategic resources to an enemy/potential enemy is a good move. If they don't have say, iron or horses and you have surplus then trade with them and rinse them (especially since the summer patch where they're happy to give you great works/relics for 1GPT). If they attack you it automatically stops the trade and although they may have built swords/horsemen with the traded resources, the units won't be able to heal and you can tear through them and there is nothing they can do about it.

Mind you this is only a viable strategy for higher difficulty levels as the AI is brain dead when fighting a war and you can usually crumble their whole Empire with a scout and a couple of slingers on King and below.

LAN , Marathon Speed, Giant Mapsize, 12 Civs, 20 minor states.

That is quite strange. The wife and I play standard speed, standard map and never have issues. Come to think of it I do not think we have had a single disconnect either.

How far into games can this happen?

Its pretty random, it can happen after 10 turns, or might go 100 turns before it happens. It can happen once and then not happen again for another 40 turns, or it can happen for 10 turns in a row. Only thing we can guarantee is that it will desync and cause one player to "reload" at some stage. We normally just bear through it.

The only thing thats ever stopped it from happening is if we play a game with Barbarians turned off, if we do that it never happens at all.

Random fix, and quite annoying as barbarians really help the game in both early and late game.

I wish I had a solution for you but I cannot think of one. If I do I will let you know. :)

Such a shame all I hear about this game is negative things :(

I'm still going back for games on Civ V every so often

I love it..the sheer fact that (even though I have issues in multiplayer) , I have racked up 430 hours of multiplayer Civ 6 shows that I like it :)

Then again, I have played every (yep, even Civ 1) incarnation of Civ over the years so I am a bit biased in my love of Civ games
