Asrock X570 PRO motherboard and I ran the diagnostic and it said SILVER, 1325, 4700 Mhz so I and trying it and now it is going up - currently doing 4750! does it keep on going up under tune? I set the diagnostic voltage to 1325 as well. I set the LLC to Level2 because under auto is said it recommended more voltage

I'm using a be quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU Cooler & 2 x 16gb sticks of DDR4 on an X470 board.
I'm not an overclocker so I'll be running my memory at it's XMP rating of 3200mhz along with the stock CPU,
Before swapping over to the new CPU I did a number of benches with the 2700X I've had for the last 3(ish) years so I can compare the results with the 5800X once I'd fitted it, It's more of a real world test as all the testers tend to use high end GPU's whereas my GPU is a 5700 XT.

Either way, I think mines a bit of a dud. Doesn't like any extra mhz at all or it throws a hissy fit so it only does 4850mhz max with pbo. Using CTR to tune actually settled on a 1250mv/4700mhz all core load overclock. Adding more voltage doesn't net any more out of the chip. Using a Noctua NH-U14S with two fans.

PBO is enabled by stock... have you done any manual tweaking of settings?
Ok it runs if I set the cpu back to stock

What is a Platinum sample? Is that good or bad?

Look at other peoples results and compare at each voltage. Looks worse than Bronze though.

I changed it back to stock motherboard default bios)

i think this software is buggy cause the numbers don't make sense - when I run the tune function it tries to find the max stable clocks and says that the second CCX can only handle 4000mhz at 1.3v but actually it can do 4.3ghz with that voltage, I know cause I've done it

Ahh I misread which CPU you had, so for 16 cores I guess your results are good although if a test fails it is due to instability and likely caused by manual BIOS settings. The tool isn't 100% accurate obviously, it's just a "best endeavours" based on the limited testing it performs and is no substitute for manual tweaking.

I had to set it back to stock to make it work. The tool seems to apply PPT limits based on processor model, for the 5950x its 120w, as long as it goes above that it stops any tests. I had manual PBO settings that allowed the 5950x to pull 260w

Changing back to stock with the cooler weather around here made me realise how much temps change between stock and overclocked, its massive. Running cinebench with PBO manual settings = 80c, running cinebench with stock defaults = 45 to 50c

The all core clocks for a stock 5950x is pathetic though thats why I can justify staying stock, it runs at just 3.75ghz in cinebench, but with manual PBO it runs between 4.35 and 4.5ghz
 
I would have thought the Platinum rating would mean it's better than Gold, similar to how the ratings are used with PSU's.

Yeah, however its only showing platinum because the test thinks the CPU is running at 0watt and I dont know why. Based on the clocks the cpu looks more like a bronze sample, only showing platinum because it cant find how much power the cpu is using on this test

That's a shame, Do you manually overclock yours then? After watching a few reviews and primarily using my PC for browsing & Gaming I can't see the point in doing so for me, From what I've seen in reviews for gaming there's normally very little to gain & in some games it can hurt performance.
