COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

It sounds like the game is inhenrently broken, and anything they do to fix it, just brakes other bits of the code.

The game needs to be rewritten entirely. Patches in this case are just that, patches, not fixes.

Same with Fall out New Vegas. That game is horrible performance wise.

Makes my system seem like it cant cope, and Im playing a game with worse textures than oblivion.

treyache laughing all the way to the bank on this one. Still have to type /snd_restart every round. I have to disable windows 7 sound functionality before i can even play it without it stuttering constantly (which disables ac3 pass through). To be honest i expected a fix by now. I am completely disappointed :(

I want my £40 back.

im ashamed of myself i just got this on steam for the full price :O It best have acceptable performance or im gonna masturbate all over my screen in rage.

so its been out a while is it fixed for the majority, or still ****ed?

Might pic up cod4..

Just played this with latest patch from beginning to end with high settings (tho only at 1680*1050).

Game ran perfect with no issues for me nor a single crash etc.

Gigabyte gtx 460 soc
phenom II quad 965
4 gig ddr 3 mem
win7 64

Thought it was a fantastic game/story & loved the build up to the ending. Never liked modern warfare much so skipped world at war, warfare 2 was "ok" but too much like you was playing a gimmicky bond game. Commenting on SP only.

Perhaps let us know how you get on. System comparisons as a whole in this thread etc.

ps, keep stocked up on those wet-wipes. (eeuugh)

just about to try this for the first time, not looking forward to it incase it runs like ****

Edit: goddamot just spent money on this and it stutters quite often, is there any settings i should try lowering inparticular to improve it?

thanks

edit: all i can say is, "I DIDNT LISTEN" ive got the game running acceptable (but still stutters sometimes) and thats with textures at normal (imo not acceptable for a 460 1gb), no aa and shadows off, it looks terrible, gameplay wise its quite fun, but still wish i just got cod4 instead as this is bang out of order from treychard :(

Tom, thinks it's your CPU mate. As above I'm playing on my brothers i7 930 @ 4Ghz - GTX 470 and it is perfect. On the otherhand my 5970 / QX9650 @ 4Ghz stutters.

It might be his CPU as it's dual core. But I don't know how you can possibly say a 4 GHz core2 Quad is to blame for any stuttering, that would fairly obviously be the game's fault. And/or an ATI issue.

Runs fine here with a dual core and "old" gpu :)

I had problems before but they were reduced by going back to windows xp.

Then patch last week sorted it all out.

2xAA and shadows on and get around 60/70 fps@1920x1200 (with cpu&gpu ocd)

Ah the elusive dirtydog I keep getting accused of being. What you been up to boy? :) Seems most of the latter half of this thread are intel users (going by sigs) was trying to see how AMD users faired in general as I've no issues as stated with my phenom 965. (only stuttering I noticed was occasionally as if the next parts are getting loaded in)

Did your game come patched to the latest version? The patch also puts another option you can turn off/on in your graphic settings. "Texture warming".Think it pre-caches textures or something before each level. probably been mentioned on here already tho never had to turn it on myself tbh.

i have it on steam so i guess it should be up to date, ill check now to see if its on :)

- Ok its enabled still crap performance, smaller games its fine but even when theres no stuttering it feels like the game is broken, certain actions just feel off and not in time with everything, what a terrible game :(

I can't explain it either mate - however I think it's related both to CPU threads and SLI/Xfire. As I mentioned before my brothers PC runs like a dream. BTW, we are using the exact same configs as well.
