COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

I decided to give it a crack last night after my last post, game ran fine and didnt crash once in about 4 hours of play. I have not noticed a patch recently but hopefully just hopefully my issue has resolved itself!

I don't think it has been fixed yet, there hasn't been a patch that I'm aware of. From what I've read the Xbox doesn't have the same problems that the PS3 has. The latest from Treyarch about the problems with the PS3 version is this post (they are looking into it):

Thanks for the feedback about the PC version everyone, I think I will buy it, I like the game I just hate all the problems with the PS3 version.
Just started playing zombie mode on the 360 and PC. My house mate and I are not very good though! What exactly are you meant to do on 5? AFAIK, get downstairs and turn the power on, flick the defcon switches and then what? Where do you get the components for the security gates near the start? I have tried watching some strategy videos but they are all for coop.
I'm judging by the lack of interest in this thread that people have given up on blackops. I'm still playing it but most of the HaX clan have given up and to some extent gone back to Mw2.
My opinion is that it takes very little skill or intelligence to play this game. There just doesn't seem to be any team work in this game - and S&D is just horrible. The fact that you can hip fire from half way across the map says it all really. What is truly depressing is that there is unlikely to be a worthy replacements (from an FPS perspective) in 2011.

I only went slightly more than half way in single player. The game was good in terms of rambo style action/shooting but found it too unrealistic. I mean c'mon guys, you are part of only 3/4 member team in the beginning and you are getting shot at from everywhere, you take some bullets from the enemy yet you manage to clear the area and reach the target location successfully lol all the while blowing everything around

I got bored of it. Have played it maybe half an hour in the last week or two. I see from the Steam stats page that MW2 isn't far behind in player numbers now which isn't surprising when it's a much more polished game with better maps etc.
Already spotted Promod out for it, I'm still playing and enjoying it on chosen servers (there are some bad ones, we know), S&D, HQ and Dom, the maps are perfect size for 6v6 or 9v9. Probably not as good as COD4 was when it came out but COD4 for me now is private servers only as the wall spam can be ridiculous.
Read an article about Crysis2 today. They reckon they have a team of 70 fine tuning the multiplayer. RO:HoS has surely got to be bought (I much prefer COD5 MP over any of them, yes, probably only me but I'm still a sucker for WW2 rifles). I wouldn't say that we had nothing to look forward to. Fear3 too lest we not forget

i hope your not playing the new promod on a server as there are no tools for mods yet and only way they have it working is injecting code into it which is classed as hacks and can get you vac banned

Anyone see the PC Gamer review of Black Ops? I was always PC Zone kind of guy, found PC Gamer a bit staid and politically correct but their review of Black Ops is brilliant. Finally put the boot into COD (possibly overly so but it’s an overcompensation that’s been long coming). 64%. Absolutely slaughtered it, mostly accurately. MP good, SP – and I actually like some cut scenes/set pieces but the loss of control in BLOPS was too much, I’d definitely prefer more control.

I'm not playing the mod though folk should read up properly about it and statements made out of supposition aren't required
I would be the last one to call any modders morons, they all have to start somewhere, they are clever folk and can give many years of longevity to a game where the game devs themselves fail to deliver ... even out the box. I'm sure we'll see Blops maps on COD4 soon enough anyway.

I'm assuming the 'wall hack' console command you're referring to is the one which allows dead players to view all players on their radar when they're spectating? That's not necessarily wallhacking if it is that, it's only really valuable in S&D with players on teamspeak.
Regarding the crashes, it's your setup. I've literally never had the game crash, i had the sound looping issue but i've since upgraded to sandy bridge and that's long gone.

i spoke to one of the biggest modders on cod yeterday about how are they doing mods on black ops with no tools and he said they were injecting code .
if steam decides that code is dodgy vac ban for you so ill wait for the tools cheers

The game is still broken after £1 billion taken in moneys the game is still unplayable on the pc, no magic updates fixed this shambles of a pathetic game. I have seen videos of the console black ops[ and i can only imagine what the game must be like. Smack my head on the keyboard playing this game.
I still want my money back and will never buy another game again. Steam and tryach can try that **** again and see how far it gets them, funny thing is, another million dumbasses ready to buy the next glitchy console port.

Yeah yeah, we know all that but Promod for Blops is in its infancy, to fret about VAC status at this stage isn't warranted, plus it's immaterial anyway, you or I can't get our hands on it at this stage. We all have to start somewhere and the point which I hoped I got across was that the modding community is already on the case and hopefully, they'll refine the game to our taste better than the original game devs ... look at where previous COD titles now modded even MW2 are these days compared to launch date
@groen ... there are tens of thousands of folk online right now playing the game. Not all have problems m8
Personally, ramping everything up with shadows off makes the game as smooth as silk. With shadows on, slight micro-stutter in certain circumstances but certainly playable. Overpriced game? Oh yes, I can't disagree with that m8.
