COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

afaict Dave, it can't be done. As soon as anybody joins in-game, it's reset pretty much in the same vain as any non-standard characters are too ... sometimes to UnknownSoldier. It's kinda picky, my in-game name has been -Aura- for years, but Blops reverts it to Aura- thereby not allowing the 1st hyphen :\

On a brighter note, the server browser appears to be fixed! Takes a while to get all ca 11k servers but they are indeed all there now :)

I still can't get 16xAA with my GPU. Ironically, my old 4870 could :D Took some screenies tho, not much difference between 2x and 8x anyway, especially when runnin aboot ;)
 
IIRC you get renamed to Unknown Soldier XX (XX being a random number) if your steam name is too short.


I've seen a few guys playing with the PS3 and/or 360 buttons icons in their name, a quick google showed me this...




Not that i will be doing it, seems kinda pointless to me.

Yes can max the settings out, but those are compressed jpegs and compressed via FB as well :rolleyes:

I shoulda been more specific, what I meant was do you have 16xAA option in gfx settings in-game? I only have option up to 8x. I used to have 16x with old 4870 but 6870 (though running 11.1a, was running only 11.1 with old gpu) seems to be missing 8!

Finally bought this today after playing MW2 for a while with friends. Still play that with them as they are reluctant to switch to BO.

Fantastic game. Spent an hour on single player just now and it's really immersive. Online is great too! Love picking people off with the M16 :D

I've been playing shooters for a long long time now and this is a fantastic example of a shooter. I however did not follow the development of the game, nor did I play it when it was released so haven't noticed any teething problems as obviously it's been patched.

It's not my favourite shooter of them all but i'm certainly enjoying it.

(Battlefield 2 is still king!)

Ohh and as per the thread title. I played it on a PS3 on a 50" Plasma and the jaggies were horrid. Also i didn't like playing with a pad, hence why I went for the PC version and it looks a lot better! Even on my crap system! (X2 6000+, 4GB RAM, 5770 HD)
 
Those with sound issues, perhaps dropping quality to bargain basement ie 16bit/44khz. Worked for me (was 24bit/192khz). I stress again, turn off Shadows. It deffo produces fps lag in the form of micro-stutter, though not for all and behemoth rigs aren't guaranteed to be immune ;)

I seem to have settled for the same HC HQ server. 5 deffo hax been booted in last 2 evenings, only had one so far since launch (well, that they spotted admittedly). Hope this ain't a prelude as I have little to no faith in VAC.
 
You know what really grinds my gears with this game that actually makes the p2p system of mw2 seem desireable. The amount of stupid servers and admins making totally retarded rules.

NO JUMPING
NO JUMPING ROUND CORNERS

I mean seriously get a damn grip its cod not ravenshield you cant bunny hop. But if I jump round a corner and own you get over it. More and more these stupid rules.
