COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

I'm trying my absolute best to avoid clicking on the Steam icon and firing this bad boy up and spending the day owning...

I have lectures, a seminar and an essay to do, though. :p

TBH as long the game is playable, then im happy. being a pure gamer for over 10 years from the games like doom, duke nukem, MOHAA, castle wolfenstien, i think todays graphical wise is remarkable. Using source hammer myself (yes different developer) as an example to build a level add the detail, scripted sequences, triggers, takes a long time, you want a high graphical game with hours of gameplay then you have to wait longer, how many people on this thread would want to wait 4 years instead of 1 - 2 years?
 
TBH Treyarch have done something pretty amazing here. They've managed to take an old engine which runs great for everyone, and turn it into a stuttery, buggy mess which runs badly for almost everyone. I mean that takes some doing, right?
 
Is there any difference between getting this on steam and getting it from the supermartket?

Will it still load into steam meaning I never need the CD again?

Played an hour of campaign. Runs smooth as, except small FPS drop when there are massive 'splosions. Got it maxed @ 1920x1200 on my 5870.

It's the same old engine... looks passable but feels a generation behind the likes of Bad Company 2.

so whats the general feeling? wait until the patch? im in no hurry to play this till i finish res evil5 hopefully by the end of the week , especially if its buggy as hell.
 
"COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC" .... well i've had a couple of hours playing Black Ops and in my opinion i think Medal Of Honor 2010 is far superior in the looks dept.

...Black Ops looks so dated and it definately hasn't blown me away like all the hype said .....

Would you of had the same opinion if there wasn't so much hype about the game and it didn't have the Call of Duty branding on the game?

I agree it had its problems but out of all the FPS we are getting on the PC these days, what was people expecting? Maybe PC gamers are expecting too much of the game because its Call of Duty.

Keeping in mind comparing to Call of Duty 2, Modern Warfare 1 and 2 I wasn't expecting much. After all, it was made by a different development team compared to the successful games in the series. So game play etc, would be slightly different.
 
What a waste of £40! I'm only about 1/4 of the way through MOH but I'm enjoying it far more.

As for MP, pointless atm, even with really low pings it's still like playing against a team of Michael J Foxes.
