COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

I don't seem to have any lag related issues but I do have an issue of my own: my stats don't save! Everytime I join a server my name is changed into Unknown Soldier (add random number, ie. 4 or 11) and after the round ends, I go look up my stats and nothing is being saved. Same issue in offline mode too.

omg i just fired up the SP mode on recoomnded settings and im lagging my balls off

4ghz e8500 8gb of ram and a 6870 and its horrific like 10 fps......

ive actually turned it off in horror.....

Killed a ton of AA and lowered textures and its still barely playable...... to me

MW2 was a solid 60fps out of the box this is just nasty looking.....

Gonna grab lunch then new drivers and start looking for tips..... so far so crap hahah

i have a feeling a lot of the criticism the game is getting is coming from people who dont even have the game and are trolling

first the graphics

i do agree it does look slightly dated compared to BC2 but even then it still looks no worse than MW2

all the comments about how it looks worse than MW1/MW2 etc is just BS
all things equal settings wise it looks exactly the same
in fact it has the potential to look better than MW2 as you can set the AA up to x16
and the textures already are significantly sharper

my only problem is with the framerate/stuttering and lag

once that's sorted it will be far superior MP game than MW2 IMO
the weapons and kill steaks already seem more balanced

as for people saying the SP campaign is crap that's just a matter of opinion
a lot of people said the WaW campaign was crap but i liked it more than MW1s

and a lot of you should already know what to expect for a SP CoD campaign
dont know why you are all acting so shocked

Any of you guys playing on Virgin Media ISP, ive heard that because their traffic shaping is currently so screwed that its including gaming data of some apps inc Black ops...

in other words lagfest...

im on virgin 50mb (no traffic shaping) and still getting the lag spikes that everyone else seems to be getting.

I have tried the various fixes that are being banded about including turning off SLI/crossfire support that was enabled by default and setting multicore usage on (disabled by default), turning off V-Sync etc etc. Nothing I have tried has fixed it or made it any better.

just gonna have to hold out for a patch :)

im getting lag spikes / rubber banding aswell virgin 50 mb here , but my friend next door but one is getting it and hes on sky , also dont see where i can join a server by ip :(

Even the user reviews on the console versions are bad, and with COD games, critic reviews mean jack. From seeing this game in action I think I may wait a fair while.

In the console, use 'connect 192.168.1.1:1234'. This is from my experience in all CODs up to MW1, shouldn't be different in BO. At least the console is enabled again, thats something.

Easy way to check FPS without third party programs aswell, 'cg_drawfps 1'.

I am going to keep my PC copy sealed when it arrives and wait for confirmation of fixes of issues before i install. If not i will send it back and get a refund. I have in the meantime bought a console version to have a dable.

User reviews are even worse, because there are people who always contribute negative scores out of spite. Both Call of Duty and Halo fanbases do this to each other all the time. Just take a gander on Metacritic.

I thought this issue was unique to MW2 and would be a thing of the past, but no:
