what i want is a very basic barebone, maybe even without a cpu, ram and hardrive, but a laptop that has a good motherboard so it can support 4 gig and the top cpu at this current moment. also i want a laptop that has a 15 inch screen with atleast a 1680x1050 resolution, and if possible a 1920x1080 resolution.

also would like to have a sleek and thin and small case.

what are the chances of this happening? im looking to buy a laptop soon?

thanks

is there any chance of a range of pics you could post on here

from top view to side views and so on?

would be nice to see what they all look like.

thanks

Really looking forwards to the developments this week !, gonna be buying a laptop when I start uni end sep ! tis quite exciting.

What chassis will these laptops be using? I'm guessing Sager or Clevo. Model numbers would be great.

I am very close to ordering a mid-range laptop and these offerings could sway my decision. Was looking for 9800M GT graphics, you seem to have the GTS and GTX, is the GT a possibility for the release laptops?

See post 96 & 99 :D

i'm planning to buy a high end laptop very soon to replace my 3 years old Rock laptop.

are you sure the expensive one use 9800GTX, not 9800GTS?

thanks

edit: those SDD's hard drive in option, are they based on MLC or SLC memory?

Nice to see the upgrade prices are pretty low for the components and no OS option is a big plus.

Cant wait to see what 12.1" & 13.3" will hold out and see, should be good to see something good other than a dell m1330 around that size :P

It is definitely a 9800GTX and the SSD are MLC.

Saw the post about 12.1" screen but any idea on the serial port?

They will not have a serial port as they are barely used nowadays. You can buy converters for very little money though.

Personally holding out for a 12/13" MacBook style laptop for Photoshop/tethering to my camera out in the field, with spec focused on processing and RAM rather than graphics card. I'm in no real rush so I'll wait and see what you guys have to offer, these look very promising!

Will you be having plenty of stock in for the first shipment?

I want the ultima mobile but need it before September 5th. Also if I preorder it when do you take the money from my card?
cheers

Am I the only one thats noticed that if you look at the Ultima Extreme Mobile -17" laptop that in the specs its listed as having a 320GB HD and 4GB of RAM, yet the default chosen spec is a 160GB HD and 2GB of RAM?
-in bold so it gets fixed!

Also, any news on laptops based on the upcoming Mobility HD4850? Im tempted by some of these laptops on finance, but the prospect of ATI upstaging NV in the mobile market as well as desktop has intrigued me; the new laptop part is meant to be faster than NVs 9800 range, and if the price is right, it could be very competitive, and it'd be a little silly possibly to buy one now, with these 4850s lingering on the edge of site, with possible better performance at the same price (seems the spec on the 4850 mobile is the same as the 4850 desktop, except with lower clocks to reduce heat and power consumption).

Fixed thank you!

No ultraportables?

smaller screen sizes / ultras would be nice. eee/one/wind territory :P

Ultra portables will be appearing in the next few days which will take the top end Centrino 2 based processors and lots of RAM.

Should certainly have enough stock available. If you pre-order then the money is taken straight away.

Thanks Rupert :)

4800 Series cards will be in testing for a little while to check various things i.e. they don't melt the laptops :D and we will then update our range to include these.

Hi Slackworth,

Can I ask what you mean by ultraportables? 7"-10" or more 11"-14"?

This tangent is getting more and more interesting...
