Protip, they can ban you for no reason. If you are offended by that, be offended by that. The manner in which they did wasn't good I'll admit, but c'est la vie.

Perhaps not, but people are getting emotional about it, not thinking logically. An apology is just words, it won't make everything better.

How can anyone being fully aware of what has happened actually say that?

Some people stand up for what is right, I guess others just like to brown nose.

An apology will not CHANGE anything but it might help save face.

As far as I am concerned the image damage done to parts of OcUK are largely irreparable, to me anyway. It was not a single, heated slip by a certain mod but a constant persistent barrage of immature, unprofessional bull.

An apology is largely pointless as the raging masses will not be appeased by it, but only use it to further fuel their sense of being in the right. Apologies; who really needs them? Today's environment for apologies is ridiculous, people demand them left right and centre. People are so damn fragile. Just get on with your life, you don't need an apology and in many cases barely deserve one.

I don't care about the mods, I care about where I can get the cheapest PC hardware with the best service. This isn't a global political issue, it's a PC forum, and an apology implies 100% blame to the mods, which I don't think is particularly fair. And I'm the last person to brown nose.

Ha, well that'll never happen! :D I understand your angst Neil but ask yourself why you feel you need an apology? Is it your delicate feelings? Valkia didn't behave brilliantly but he most certainly was 'under fire', and a lot of people would have lost their cool in the scenario in question.

However he's probably sat in Gibbo's office a nervous wreck at the moment :p.

So you are happy with the level of service provided on this issue as and when it arose?

would have of been happy with the same level of service on another matter - Say, returns?

Why i feel i need one, let me see... For the long term Ban? because i was discussing it like everyone else in a mature manor. Some people kept saying I KNEW THE RULES but i didn't make that original thread, nobody knew the rules as they kept on changing by the second. Then he was blackmailing people either you agree with me or Neil stays banned. Fine you don't agree with me, he's banned. He was treating people like trash!. Nobody was trolling him and if they were it was much much later when he wound everyone up.

Not sure why people such as yourself and klo can't see what's right in front of them, WELL HAHA IT DIDN'T AFFECT ME YOU ARE ALL FOOOLS

I'm still confused how people that clearly haven't read the threads properly think that everyone should move on when some of dons themselves have admitted that it was a catastrophe and an utter mess that deserves being looked into.

People are right about some of the brown nosing in here now. Are brownie points worth that much these days?

Wow, that incapable of comprehension? Really cannot be bothered to water it down for you, but it's a rather simple concept.

Well you seem to be asking if I'd be happy with that level of competency in the returns department, to which the answer would be a resounding 'no'. But until I have a problem with the returns dept then I can hardly apply the criticism of a couple of mods to a shop department. You are talking completely hypothetically and it's like saying 'yeah, well, what if they sent you the wrong game, would you be happy then?'. They haven't sent me the wrong game, they haven't ballsed up my return.

They've moderated poorly.

Things I care about: I get the right product in my order at a reasonable price.
Things I care less about: a forum mod having an attack of nerd rage.

It's a rather simple concept.

It's a forum :D.

.

Robbie thinks we are all a bunch of nerds having a nerd rage...
We ofcause disagree and temps are still high.
OCUK staff including Gibbo think there has been failings and a meeting needs to be called, Nath even admitted he came in to fix another mods mess.

So thats Robbie V Ocuk & Ocuk Staff

Rubbish.

Nath came in to try and calm people down after Valkia's rage tip, made one little slip and people have spent the next few days jumping down his throat and trolling him.

Valkia needs disciplinary action (the companie's business, NOT ours) and hopefully an apology (which is what we should get) but no-one else has done anything that shouldn't just be forgiven.

Slip?

Why would he ever think of that in the first place?

The "less than 10%" is wrong on so many levels and albeit I appreciate that Nath may not be able to comprehend the business side of this comment, I do however feel that it is offending coming from an OcUK representative.

I think there are many people who are willing to shop elsewhere if OcUK staff think of them as mariginal part of business and don't treat them as proper customers.

TBF, I was all up for forgetting the whole thing since I treat the Forums kind of separately from the store but on the second thought today, I think the whole situation showed so many things that are wrong with this Forum, that is somehow means of communication between OcUK staff and the shop's customers, that expecting a major change in the attitude of some of the employees is the least we can do.

Anyway i'm going to stop now as there is no point arguing amongst ourselfs, we all have our different beliefs and tempers are still high. I don't wish to fall out with any friends just because of one bloke or two for some..

I await and i hope action will take place against Valkia

Back later!

It's an OCuK Shop employee engaging directly with the customer base.

Not a forum moderator having a hissy fit.

Key distinction.

I'm still missing what on earth it has to do with the returns department? I have no more or less confidence in the returns department now than I did before (how much I had to start with is one question). They work to firm rules and emotion rarely comes into it, therefore nerd rage shouldn't have any impact on the process. The shop employee is a grunt, not expected to be a political strategic master. He made a moderating mistake.

Funny, that's how most of the pc gaming section felt that night :o

You feel hurt and disappointed, fine. I can't really relate to that, but that's not important. I do however feel you're conducting yourself as a massive cry baby. You've been unbanned, OcUK should just deal with the issue internally in the manner they see fit and you should carry on with your consumer choices based on price and service. I'm not saying they shouldn't apologise so much as I don't see why people feel they need one.

This over-emotional nature of your posting is probably what got you banned in the first place. Just calm down a bit.

I agree with this. This whole thing was brought on by the fact we couldn't mention any OcUK stocked games being sold elsewhere and also the rainforest's distribution service which lead to valkia being involved in the first place. Knowing valkia is behind the games side of OcUK, I won't be purchasing anything from him. However, Gibbo I respect and I believe he'll sort this mess out if it's been handed to him, I doubt Spie will get involved unless disciplinary action is needed.

I'm also quoting this post from the Motors OT thread because it's awesome.

My (probably unwanted, but you're getting it anyway) 2p is that auto-promoting OcUK staff straight to the moderating team is a Bad Thing.

I remember wondering about that when it first happened and we've seen some pretty poor behaviour since then really. Last night was probably the culmination of that.

Moderation of this place was always done by the people that really loved the forums. I was there once and some of the people I have met and had some good times with then-moderators but we all had one thing (at least) in common - which was a love for the forums.

Sticking anyone that has a job at OcUK in that role means you remove that love and understanding from things and thats when you get the user base peed off with the mod team and unsightly threads popping up here and there.
