ok so it doesnt work on any of the atom tablets that have been out for over 6 months and are pretty much some of the only windows 8 tablets out there :\

The new IE 11 split screen browsing is great on the Surface. Tons better then just snapping normal desktop IE.
 
Anyone with a Surface Pro got the ISO installed? Still downloading right now. Also, do I need to create recovery media? I take it when 8.1 final comes out, I'll need to restore Windows 8 so it has my individual product key, and then upgrade to 8.1?
 
Guys, if you're having problems installing from the ISO files check the hashes. I can't get a match so I'm not even attempting to install.

Something is wrong with those images.
 
WHAT have they done to the Xbox Music app?

SHOCKING!!!! The old one was a million times better. Yet again another team of programmers creating disjointed apps.

Music and Video now look totally different. Really liked the old version.

You can tell it's a preview release. Photos apps has no skydrive integration, the top level thumbnails on skydrive doesn't update. What is surprising me most is the lack of skydrive integration from the desktop. You get the sync folders......erm, that's it.

Camera Roll syncing.......good quality, best quality????? (is best quality untouched 'as in the original')

Unified Search.....searches everywhere (well, it means the internet basically). If you search for an artist on music app, then click search and type them in again.....you erm....yeah, you don't find them. It brings back rubbish from bing. Guess unified doesn't really mean unified then. :EDIT: forget that.....the headings on search are at the bottom not the top.....who has headings at the bottom....unless they are footers? anyway, managed to find the xbox music section.

come on Microsoft!

I agree....unfortunately we have to adapt. I've just taken up a new job working with mostly teenagers and those in their early twenties.

It's all tablets and cloud to them. They hate the desktop (as they can't use it) but this generation refuses to learn stuff and just wants everything to work for them.

I get that they had to innovate, but it clearly hasnt been accepted favourably by the desktop market.
 
Lose desktop market share to whom? Apple? I doubt it. Desktop market share is the least of their worries.

Anyway I'm having a hard time believing the new xbox music app is worse than the one we have now. I'm not sure that's possible.
 
Works fine on my RT.
Downloaded the file, reset it, made it all US (language pack and regedit)
Grabbed the Preview from the Store.
Reset it again and set it up as an en-gb device, ok so far..

Dont like that Outlook RT is a desktop app and doesnt show on the lock screen but I can live with that I guess...
 
19minutes to install ISO, get though all the settings and to desktop, not bad at all.

Whish my laptop was 1080p screen, metro really benefits from high res screens.

metrotube not working for anyone else? if its not working any decent alternatives?

shame the mail app doesn't have new bigger tile yet and so many apps need update to support the new split screens and larger tile.
