Connect radiator direct to chassis Mod

Cheers @Mcnumpty2323 will have to look at bbcode.

If you design it i'm happy to 3d print you an adapter to use the existing holes.

ahh mate that’s very kind, thank you so much! :) . Let me have a think as to dimensions and design and I may take you up on that offer! Suitably compensated of course (ie beer).

I have a feeling once it has two hosepipes sticking out of it it may be held down fairly well. Like mcnumpty said. The case weighs a TON with all the components inside and this will never be tipped over except for the occasional drain, and I’ll have a drain port at the lowest point.

On the gpu cables, might just try some normal ones. curve it down the back of the card, 180 turn.

Some one
Though as usual I forgot who
Possibly in watercooling section
Showed the 180 degree power connectors
Think there's. A. 90 degree one too
very useful in certain pc cases where the grommet/hole
for the gpu power cables is in an awkward position
dont think ocuk sell those so should be safe to say amazon do

and yeah fully loaded it will be very heavy
i put a good quality set of castors on mine
which also gives great ground clearance for the bottom intake

edit sort of these gpu power adapters
can also get a 90 degree 24 pin
welcome to the world poem

Just googled some of those earlier. Interesting. Particularly the 180s. Need to check the clearances and dimensions of those.

That strimer is just too rigid.

with those adapters
if they come in pairs i vaguely remember the other guy
saying 1 is the reverse of the other
so if your gpu has 3 x 8 pin
you actually need 3 sets of 2

think i have about 6 of those lying around. You can have a set if you want.. was gonna chuck them in the bin (don't need it for my build.. and even when i did.. my old alphacool waterblock was too big and in the way).. plus selling them i would get pennies for so no point

Need to check if they are A or B type so will update you.. A or B basically means the input type as some cards connector has the catch at the top or at the bottom

Edit: OK mine are Type A

you mean 2 sets of 2. If you have a GPU with 3 power connectors, you just need 3 180s
No I mean 3
Would need to find the original post
For the explanation
But something to do with the set of 2
Are not identical
It might be 1 is for cards with the clip on opposite side
Or might be a different reason
I can remember them saying it definitely
Just can't fully remember the reason

Edit
Found the Original post link
It looks like one is for connector with the latch at top
And one at bottom
Which would mean the pin out arrangement
Is rotated 180 degrees
Because even if the power connector is rotated 180 degrees
You're still trying to go the same direction
IE to make the cable go down behind the GPU
Not down in front of it
Probably a bad explanation but I can picture what I mean in my head

With pipes attached, and the proximity of the gpu bracket, this rad is pretty stable once the tape is applied. However, still wondering as to an exact design for a bracket of some sort.

I got hold of three of those 180 adaptors. They’re pretty damn good actually. The strimer is out of the window (shame) as it’s too rigid. I got some normal white braided cables, these could also be a good fit/look, so need to decide upon this or using the 180s with them.

In other news, and much to my disappointment, I have discovered that a metal port plug won’t fit into one - only one - of the ports on my radiator. It won’t go in fully and it therefore leaks air. If I use the hard plastic one that came with the radiator, it’s fine. I can’t work out why the metal plugs doesn’t go into this one port.

The plastic one that fits came with the rad. The one that doesn’t is an EK port plug, metal. The rad is HardwareLabs sr2. But, all the other ports accept the EK metal plugs. Yes all o rings present and correct.

It's annoying when little things like that
Hold you up
Especially given how great it looks so far
Love that distro don't think I have seen one
Like that in an O11 before
Definitely think the 180 power connector
Or maybe the white braided cable will look better
Than the strimer did

By the way @Mcnumpty2323 your ‘case chassis on castor wheels to get better airflow and move heavy case around’ concept gave me an idea….

If I put my chassis on castors, it’ll raise it up off the floor obviously. Then, I could mount the ‘push’ fans of the bottom push/pull rad onto the bottom side of the case (ie outside the chassis on the underside of the base)

Then, inside the case, it would then only be accommodating a rad with a pull fan on it - vs a rad in push/pull as I have currently internally.

So, the net result should be: more space internally, and the rad will be able to be screwed directly into the original fan mount bracket.

You absolutely could do that mate
The castors I got were I think from memory 2 inches
Which would be enough
But can get even higher if needed
I got decent ones not the plastic things
You get on office chairs
Still weren't very expensive
I got the ones with a plate and 4 screw holes
Not the ones with a large bolt like office chairs
With the plate you could actually just stick them on
With no more nails etc
As I said fully loaded it's extremely heavy
And my backs totally gone so moving it is way easier
And it also gives greater airflow especially if sitting on
A carpet that has a decent pile
It would also give you a bit more space from the vertical GPU mount

Edit
The other thing it allowed me to do
Is have the drain port come off the bottom radiator
And underneath the case
So it's absolutely the lowest point in my loop

Had a look at mine again.. i actually have 2 sets of A and 1 set of B.

I'm guessing it depends on the manufacturer, as where i got mine, i was given the option to purchase either A or B; A being up angled or B Down Angled. Does seem strange to be sent 1 up and 1 down as a pair though.

I think it goes back to when GPUs were mainly
Only having 1 X 8 pin
So selling the pair with one of each
Meant people could just order the pair and 1 of them
Was definitely going to be correct
