I don't quite understand that ram overclocking chart :( How far would i be able to overclock the E6600 with Gskill pc5300 ram? would it be able to hit 3ghz?

Just wish the motherboards would hurry up!

Yes, you would be able to clock the CPU to around 3GHz at 1:1 (FSB:Mem).

Thats with the PC5300 running it dual channel mode.

Well after saying I wouldn't want Conroe and couldn't wait for Conroe I have decided I can do with out my main rig till they are released and have bit the bullet and ordered an E6600

Have decided to go for the Gskill £99+VAT Ram and am going to leave the motherboard till nearer the time and get them to add it to the order when more is known about them.

After being with AMD for so long I feel dirty :o :D

Are people only ordering today (knowing that they won't get the hands on the kit for another month) due to fear that stocks might not be available in another month? It seems to me a better idea to wait until the CPUs and motherboards are available from many retailers in Aug, then make decisions based on decent reviews then. What's the advantage of ordering today?

Thats exactly what I was thinking, i'm over in the States soon so might pick one up whilst im over there, will be cheaper than the UK prices no doubt, they seem to be more expensive then we all first thought.

Demand > Supply :(

This is Intel we're talking about remember. I don't think there's gonna be a problem with supply meeting demand.

I think your right. Thats why im not jumping into anything as pre-order prices could be higher than normal release prices.

eh? there is only one UK retailer with prices available??? no one knows how much they will be at retail.
Im sure OCUK are adding a nice amount on top of their usual price, given that they are the only E-tailor that have pre-orders up.

Ill be waiting personally, i wouldnt be at all suprised to see the 6600 drop by £30 or more at launch.

Exactly - I expect there to be no supply issues and by Mon 4th September I expect to be able to order an E6600 for under £200 inc. We'll see in 10 weeks I guess. That'll be some 4 week after release so it should be clear by then which motherboards are worth getting as well.

Gibbo , most of the good air cooled overclocks @ XS forums are done on a

tuniq tower 120 cooler, do ocuk stock these?

btw someone has reached 4.1ghz with E6700 with this cooler :)
