'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

A lot nearer Diego Garcia than the search site. *conspiracy theory*

Edit: Just to add to it, the prevailing currents would have tended to take something from Diego Garcia to those islands as well. Could be some interesting theories come out!

Well, *obviously* it was a false flag operation by the US government, they took the plane to Diego Garcia, then tore it into pieces with a lot of heavy machinery and chucked it in the sea

Why would something that had safely landed at Diego Garcia be subsequently found in bits in the sea?

I'm sure the conspiracy theorists will have an answer for that but I doubt somebody clever enough to hide an entire plane and all its passengers would be dumb enough to then just throw it all in the sea.

The finding of debris in the sea is far more likely to be because, well, you know, the plane crashed. Into the sea. A year of ocean currents can carry things thousands of miles.

Wont it be easy to identify? Surly lots of plane parts have unique identification numbers they can check?

The point a guy on the news made this morning is that if it is a flaperon from a 777 it's a pretty integral part and losing it would lead to a crash anyway so it's unlikely to just be a random piece dropped off from any old 777, so it's pretty certain to have come from MH370.

if they're like ours they also come as a whole pieces with unique recorded apart numbers kept with the aircraft's files.

Can't be that many pieces of plane wings floating around in the ocean so I would dare assume this is from the plane in question. I hope they can get closer to finding it now.

You don't even need a serial number to link it back to MH370, if it's confirmed to be from a 777 then there's only been 5 hull losses, and only 1 in the sea.

You don't have enough vision...

What actually happened is the Americans forced the plane to land at Diego Garcia, removed about half a dozen pieces of the plane that would usually float (flapperons, tyres etc), replacing them with parts from elsewhere. Those parts were then left underwater for a year just off the coast, to give them their "sea swept" look. They were then transported to Reunion and last night someone in a boat dropped a couple of bits over the side at low tide so they would float onto the beach this morning.

The perfect cover! ;)

I like the idea of 777's just going around dropping off random bits of non essential plane :P

According to Air Crash Investigation bits of planes fall off all the time.

Non-essential bits, of course.

Not so sure if I (want to) believe this, but that's what they say.
