'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

Also a plane door with Chinese and Malaysian writing on it has allegedly been found on the island

If true that all but confirms it IMO

I hope they find the actual crash site soon now they can trace roughly where it fell

I remember someone saying in the press the other day that even if these parts are from the MH370, due to the length of time since iy crashed and currents etc the search area will still be massive. However I hope they find the crash site asap.

indeed, the historical current data is available which will probably really help understand. That current region has massive anticlockwise currents, evidenced by the fact debris was found on the north of the island.

Similar to a plane part I guess.

Malaysian official: new debris recovered on Réunion Island thought to be from flight #MH370 belongs to 'domestic ladder' and not plane part

For example, my uncle committed suicide, hung himslef from a tree in the woods. No note, no reasons - nothing. Why did he do it? I dont know, but what I do know is not knowing why did not change the fact he was dead and that we had to grieve and move on. Living in a constant state of grief because you cant let go of the why's is destructive. Fortunately my auntie knew this and has moved on and is now really happy. I resolved the issue by simply accepting he obviously felt that he had to do it and if someone is that resolved there is likely nothing I could have done.

It's sad but the world keeps turning and life goes on.

I agree. BUT you know he killed himself and how he did it.
Would you have been "happy" at just being told your uncle was dead. No further discussion.

No, probably not and I appreciate what you are getting at.

However that is not the situation for the families of MH370 passengers. If the debris found is confirmed to be from the flight they will know their loved ones died in a plane crash, so it isn't a case of saying your loved one is dead, no further discussion. They will know the date they died and roughly how they died (IE plane crash).

Indeed I think there are probably very few instances where a loved one dies and the family does not at least know how - whether they have the full details or not. My point being that does it matter if you have all of the details? Is your loved one any less dead? From that point, as I alluded to previously, it is down to the nature of the individuals and whether they can find closure and move on without knowing the exact details.

I think worse is missing persons where they could be alive or dead. In the case of MH370 I think it has generally been accepted the passengers and crew are dead - but conclusive proof has not been found. So I guess in that regard, for the families, it is a little like Schrodingers cat.

If the debris is confirmed to be from MH370 we will unlock the box. If not, we will have to keep looking until we either find the passengers and crew alive somewhere - or we find debris that conclusively proves MH370 crashed into the sea with the loss of all on board.

Yep, just got the news alert for it. At least the families will have some kind of closure now. Fingers crossed they will now find the rest of the wreckage

Wait, the internet told me it landed on an island (not in bits) and the people had been kept in cold storage. Same people who told me the world was going to end in 2012 actually and they were right!

How long until it's claimed that bit fell off and the rest of the plane landed on an island somewhere and everyone is still alive?

It's actually possible that happened and they just threw parts of the plane into the ocean to miss direct people into thinking it crashed at sea.

We won't really know for sure after almost 2 years of searching it is quite hard to tell the story unless the black boxes are salvaged.

Don't think the black boxes can withstand being at the bottom of the ocean for that long can they? Sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.
