Core 9000 series

You forgot VAT.

Yep, he's done that for many posts. Also seems to forget US sales tax on the one he bought, unless he's had it shipped to Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon for collection in the USA he's gonna end up paying anywhere from around 4-11% more that £404.

RCP from Intel is $488-499, so £369-378 +VAT = £442-453 - presently only being gouged by £150+ :p

Beany did you buy one without factoring VAT into your calculations? if you paid £400 for it you're going to get a bill from customs and excise for £80 :)
Nope, I'm going to the US in person. Got it delivered to my mates house. Will bring it home with me. And no, I've never ever ever been asked by customs about a personal tech purchase in my suitcase. So I won't have to pay VAT.
Granted most people can't do this. But yeah I got lucky and paid £403 all in (no sales tax in New Hampshire).

Still, even paying VAT you are £480. Last I check thats a lot less than £620 lol .

I'm so glad you are here to keep me right.

Oh you're right there is a lot of UK price gouging going on but do be careful smuggling that CPU over the boarder the government take a very dim view on tax avoidance.

"smuggling" LOL! You telling me you have never bought a gift or t-shirt or book when on holiday? Technically you are smuggling everything back.... Even those sweets you bought at the airport. Trust me customs do not give a hoot about a personal purchase you made while on holiday. I've declared an ipod and new laptop before and they couldn't care less. They are looking for more serious things. Cigarettes for resale, or indeed 100 CPUs.

Yes of course i have, i'm not being critical of you i think taxes in this country are diabolical and i can understand why some people avoid paying it where they can, its just my personality using language like that, granted that doesn't come through in text.

But do be careful, they don't like it.

Erm.. lets keep you right again. You are entitled to £390 of "stuff" with zero VAT/Duty applied. So no worries about your CPU, or that bag of sweets. ;)

Well not, as they allow you £390 from outside the EU

Looks like the three or four big US retailers who have retail stock have started charging cards, and sending shipping notifications. Not looking great if you didn't order within 12 hours of it going on sale, but I am sure more folk will confirm this as the days goes on.

Wasn't going to reply as it doesn't really add to the discussion but.... I'll bite...
Where do you see this that three or four of the big US retailers are shipping? I've searched the webs and can only see 1 reddit post that talks of one specific retailer. not 3 or 4. (btw is it 3 or 4?).

To be fair to OCUK the pricing that distributers are charging currently because of the shortages is extreme. We currently pay in the region £100 + VAT more for an 8700K/8086K than we did a couple of months ago.

The gene next week mate. The 5000mhz mems still need work and more binning. 4500mhz is in stock though.

Nice thanks bud. ;) are the newer men chips any different to the older "original" b-die?? Or are they more speed/mhz binned, are you able to say what they can be tuned to, 4266C12? Remember I'm a bit out the loop now!

I didn't place my order with the US forest until last Friday, so would be incredibly surprised if anything happened before this weekend - or even this month. Will post an update if there's any sign of activity.

Still confident that it's a better option than a UK order, and if not I can cancel it.
