Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

i fitted it my own way couldnt twist the heatsink into palce no matter what i tryed so i just placed the heatsink on the bracket the way it needed to go then screwed it in.... temps in windows are reporting

Temperatures:
Motherboard 27 °C (81 °F)
CPU 21 °C (70 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #1 44 °C (111 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #2 40 °C (104 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #3 40 °C (104 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #4 44 °C (111 °F)
SAMSUNG HD082GJ 18 °C (64 °F)
SAMSUNG HD642JJ 18 °C (64 °F)

seem about right for a q9550 @ stock ?

theres a hefty difference between cpu temp and core temps there??

My q9550 @ 3.5Ghz sits in windows at 27 27 37 37, a little lower than yours.

my radiator mounting screws went slightly beyond the rad fins causing them to bend in a bit. anything to worry about?

Any chance someone can put my mind at rest on this one? It's only bent the fins behind the mounting holes. I'm guessing the cooling takes place on the exposed parts of the radiator subject to air flow. I hope i'm not going to lose cooling over this????

Alfie - you should be fine. Water actually doesn't flow through the thin fins- it goes via the vertical "pillars". If you bend the fins only, and not the flat pipe itself, it will work without issue.

So, what about the screws? Can you send me 4 or point where can I buy it? ;)

To all: does it actually matter in which position the radiator is mounted? I just checked this thread and saw different mounts - pipes on top, on side or on the bottom and started to wonder about it.

kodi_ie and zooankski win the screws.

I have 4 of the same length as the corsair screws and 4 which are the same but 1/4" longer (useful if you are using fan grills and rubber washers etc).

The first to claim a preference gets it.

NB: they are socket cap so you'll need a 2.8mm Hex key or a bloomin' good pair of pliers.

Corsair says you can mount it any way you want and the results will be the same...up, down, left, right should all give the same results.

I have not tested this though.

I will also quote this, as it deserves to be quoted this often. Hat's off to you Hotwired, I really like this approach. I agree with the above that shrouds should be involved (and preferably different fans), it'll reduce the tension in the tubing, decrease the noise of the system and improve temperatures.

Good man.

Cheers :)

The tubing looks tight but I assure you it's not under much stress, had no worries about kinking and no stretching when when installing the pump. A different angle shows the tubing sweeping more.

Shrouds are basically cheap fans with all but the frame removed aren't they?

Might reduce noise but mostly what's making almost all the noise are the 6 x 40mm fans in the HDD bays that I need to whack a resistor on the 12V line to. Sounds like a dam server at the moment O.O

A thought is raised that if a H50 could be hacked without too much shredding of hardware... well there's a bay free for a second and room under the GFX... :D

But the vapor-x cooler seems quite happy in there and makes less noise than an H50 so won't happen to mine any time soon ^_^

Cheers mate-email sent in trust re screws!:)

Ok, I just installed mine. It was not an easy installation!!!!!!!!! Once the retention ring is in place you cannot get the tabs underneath it. had to remove the ring and had a very fiddly experience indeed probably destroying most of the thermal paste :(

Crucially, What sort of noise levels are you folks getting? Mine buzzes. Is this normal?

I probably know what you are talking about - you just cannot follow the instruction to have it properly installed :) Screws that are holding the ring have to be screwed in more than few turns first ("1/2-3/4 turn" my butt) , then the ring gets loose. Then you can get the pump under the tabs of the ring without any problems. If you didn't drop most of the paste and it's just disturbed, use a credit card or similar object to place it evenly and then try again.

Little buzzing is normal (pump). In my case I cannot hear it from about half a meter. Check the placement of the ring first - it needs to be in exact position. The same goes for securing the screws - make sure they are screwed in the same depth.
