Countdown to competition...

Thought I would do some squatting, but my quads didn't really agree.

BACK SQUAT (5) 40-70
FRONT SQUAT (5) 70 Still no...
CLEAN DEADLIFT (3) 110-160-160-160-160(8) Was feeling good on the last set.
SNATCH PULL (3) 110-110-110

Great lift at 180kg, sorry about your shoulder injury mate. I have struggled for the last 20 years following a dislocation, so I feel your pain.

Heh - thanks, dude. :) It was a pretty horrid lift but a lot of back work means it was 'tolerable.'

Shoulder-wise, it is irritating because my two recent shoulder problems have come from chest work: last year was a heavy triple on flat bench and this time was a heavy set of weighted pushups... Which is why I loathe chest and admire anybody who can do it. :o

A bit of time off before holiday means a return to Russian Squat Routine...

BACK SQUAT (2*6 @ 145) wow, that is heavy! Fourth and fifth sets were actually relatively easy...?

Yeah... It isn't the first time, either. My brain treats the first few as a warmup and then finally clicks a while after.

Best squatting I ever did was in my short-lived run of Squat Nemesis, with a daily max and then heavy triples: the daily max woke me up and then the heavy ramp afterwards was exquisitely painful but very slick.

Session 2 of RSR...

BACK SQUAT (3*6 @ 145kg) Easier than Session 1, but the last set was grind-worthy...
CLEAN PULL (5) 100-120-120-120 How I used to power clean 110kg I will never know... :D

Quick session whilst giving my shoulder more rest. I had decided that I will just leave it alone for a couple of weeks - without anything except from RC and eccentric brocepz stuff - just to see if it will heal by itself. If no further progress, I will b egoing for my MRI. :(

It is the weekend, so today was ARMS! :eek:

Just kidding: more squats and deadlift variations. :D

BACK SQUAT (2*6 @ 145kg) Nothing to write home about. A couple of random reps were harder than they needed to be, but there we go.
SNATCH PULL -> 4* RDL 60-100-100
CLEAN PULL -> 4*RDL120-130
PENDLAY ROW (5) 100-100-100

Clean pulls? What are they? Partial deads?

Edit: just looks like a power shrug?

Noob! :D

EDIT - with the clean pull it's the extension of the body that sends the bar up. In a clean high pull you'd be actively using the upper body more

If you break the clean up, at least the off the floor part you have exercises like these:

Greg talks about the differences between pull types 'ere, about half-way down he goes into why deadlifts =/= part of the clean from floor to hip:

Added more stuff to that post - with the clean pull it's the 'pop' of the quads/hips that sends the bar up. If you add the upper body in you get the high pull and the Chinese 'high pull with rebend' variation:
