Countdown to competition...

I'll be honest, I can't figure out what weight/reps you're doing when reading your log.

Smoke and mirrors... :D

This week has been a bit random because I am taking a rest from hypertrophy to lift heavier stuff; I am having a think about what I am trying to achieve by doing some bracketing work (what weight can I lift for how many reps) to see if moar strength is required, or whatever.

For instance, the deadlifts on Friday were OK, but slower than I expected... So That - to me - suggests I am not lifting 3RM stuff frequently enough to really tax myself. Same for squats last night. All of this will get chucked around in my head to determine what the next 4-6 weeks of training looks like.

It will probably be based around a combination of 3RM initial work with 8-10 rep accessory stuff with two of the three bench exercises from Monday shuffled for squat and push press. Or something. When I have my cheezegrater I will start a new log with the respectives...

Ha that made me laugh!

Yeah there's definitely something to be said for doing heavy weight work from time to time. It astonished me how easy 180kg felt deadlifting last week, yet 190kg wouldn't budge off the ground (albeit I think this could be more grip related). Bit more work at the top end required I think, same with benching; 90kg flies up for sets of 8, 100kg feels like... Well, 100kg :D

SNATCH -> HANG SNATCH 60-70-80-90()-100() Well, that was interesting. First time I have snatched that much in succession... And then completely bottled 100kg. :D
PUSHPRESS (5) 60-70-75-75
DB BENCH (5) 18-35-37.5-37.5
LAT RAISE AND TRICEPS

still a bloody good effort :)

Thanks - I was happy! :)

POWER CLEAN (3) 60-100-100 Hmm... Harder than it should have been...
DEADLIFT (5) 150-150-150 Ah - 165kg went up for a single, but it was very slow. Must still be blitzed from yesterday.
BOR (5) 100-110-110
BARBELL COMPLEX (snatch first pull -> snatch high pull -> hang snatch (5 each) Two rounds. That was savage at 60kg... :o

POWER SNATCH (5) 60-70-70 A bit slow, but driving back from Wales will do that...
BACK SQUAT (2) 120-120-120-120-120-120 RSR day one. Nice and light...
SNATCH GRIP PULL (10) 60-70-70
PENDLAY ROW (5) 100-100-100

Without 60s rests, workouts take a while! Not very anything session, but slowly turning the focus on a more constructed strength regime...

PUSHPRESS (3) 70-80-80-80 Oooooh.
STRICT PRESS (10) 40-40
DB BENCH (8-6-6) 25-30-35 Started painful, and then got moar painful...
LAT RAISE ss/w TRICEPS (10) *.*

Still weak... Still testing... Will be back squatting tomorrow.

BACK SQUAT (3) 120-120-120-120-120-120 Got easier as time went on...
DBSS (5) BAR-30-45(2) Old injury came back to haunt me - top of my glute near my coccyx decided to light up in agony. It is an area no bigger than a 10p piece but ouch...
FRONT SQUAT (3) 60-100-100-100 Just because. :(

Not very happy about my glute but hey... That is the way this stuff can go. No massive loss as there are loads of ways to cause myself pain.

Rolling time?

Tried previously and it is very difficult to get at without looking VERY dodgy.

Physio once said the only real way to get at this sort of thing is "internally," at which point I just accepted the pain and stopped doing single leg work for a bit.

Regular squatting is fine and lunges aren't too problematic, but J don't like lunges...

POWER CLEAN (3) 60(5)-80-100(2) Bar was coming too far forward on the heavier stuff, so once I start doing this properly again, I will review and rework.
BACK SQUAT (4) 120-120-120-120-120-120 Not very interesting. Found my groove, so could have done 6s for each set...
SNATXH GRIP PUSH PRESS (5) 60-70-70
GOOD MORNINGS (5) 70-70
DELTSUNTRIZE ...

Nice workout, actually. :)

Training has been a bit varied due to changes in work... But there we go.

BACK SQUAT (2) 120-120-120-120-120-120 Slow... But all came up without drama. Need to ensure I stay balanced as I drifted over onto my right leg a couple of times... Nothing catastrophic, but just something I noticed... And so corrected by deliberately drifting over my left. :D
FRONT SQUAT (3) 100-100-100 Mmmmhmmmm.
CLEAN PULL (5) 100-120-120

Session was just a warmup for the broRM test...

BACK SQUAT (5) 120-120-120-120-120-120 First set was hard... Everything else was easy.
SNATCH HIGH PULL (3) 120-120-120 Surpisingly good.
SNATCH GRIP PUSH PRESS (5) 70-75-80-80
DELTS ss/w TRIS (*.*)
(BARBELL) CURL RM 25-30-40-45-55(f) Sad face. Have repped 50kg before but there we go... When it counted, I didn't have it. :( Would Smolov for broceps help with this?
