Counter-Strike 2

I've noticed the difference in graphics levels is much bigger too. CS2 on lower settings is really grainy and disgusting. I get about 200 FPS at 1080p medium/high on a 3070, so while there's a bit of a drop, it's not a huge deal

I didn't notice too much of an FPS difference going from 'Low' to 'very high'

Definitely, played CSGO on max and got 600-700FPS, sometimes 800+.

Without checking I probably average 300-400fps in CS2.

- Everything cranked to max including g resolution scaling of whatever it’s called (200%)
-Ryzen 7600, 4090, 32gb RAM
I thought everyone played at the lowest settings so they could cheat and see through the smoke nades etc easier etc etc? And have an 'advantage'? Or was that fixed awhile back?

If you’re playing competitively that was the case in CSGO, but I know I’ll always be bad so would at least rather have something nice to look at while I die constantly

Are the rumours true that CS2 wont come to linux? I had the invite to play it but couldn't be bothered to use windows to play it, I had a brief look online, and people were claiming it's going to be windows only now?
I'd be amazed if it doesn't come to Linux. Valve are big supporters of Linux so why wouldn't they. Think people are saying that as the test version was Windows-only

Haha, this was what tempted me to crank it back up, I used to be very good on CSS but CS:GO seems harder, I did have a 10-15 year gap from CSS though. Who know's. AK def seems a lot harder/realistic though, the M4A1 is still very forgiving. I've been training myself with the ak though recently just being very gentle and firing 2 shots max at a time and hoping for the best haha!

Yeah same, strange they wouldn't allow the test version on linux though, after clicking on it etc it then wasted 2 hours downloading at a pathetic speed (not my isp's fault) compared to normal and then nothing changed, I looked into it and nope windows only testing, thanks for telling me that steam!

Yeah FPS doesn't seem to change drastically, but the quality does somehow. Unless it was changing a resolution scaling or something, but low looked horrific.

Well I had that also but then I fiddled with the settings a bit more and did get rid of how blurry it was - Still not as clean as CSGO on low though.

So bar a few people, do you guys just send it and run the best graphics settings possible then. I hate the idea of people cheating with lower quality settings, but refuse to be beaten by that, so live with crap graphics, self harm much haha!

What's going on btw with the ranking? Does your cs:go one get transferred or do you start a fresh? If so once it becomes final release does that transfer or start from nothing again?

Ranking is now totally different in CS2.

Premier is now the "main" mode and you get a numerical "ranking" just like Faceit, you also go through a pick/ban stage in this mode to decide the map you're going to play.

Skill group (DMG, LE etc.) is now on a per map basis in the usual "matchmaking" where you choose what map you want to play.

Devs need assistance with basic order of the game imo on every scale but Valve also makes excellent games. Actually advising someone who needs advice is a skill in itself, I think they'll have to bumble their way and hopefully premier or whatever ruleset, netcode etc. improves.

From what I know higher settings give shadows as info well before low detail will see it. Devs have been updating a lot so things might have changed.

On Linux theres zero doubt cs2 does appear, worst case would be the same lagged release as csgo had. But microsoft have threatened valve prior, MS has been a bully for as long as I can remember. The steam deck runs on linux, they'll put cs2 on there this year I guess.

Hope we don't have to spend 10 days doing 10 wins if we have prime!
10 wins to get a rating. A rank up is its own game, you must get to 9999 or whatever and then it allows an attempt to get the next colour which follows the weapon tier colours. 43k some have. I like seasonal potentially and the map rank thing, just anything new I like, theres a chance its going to help the game fingers crossed.

I love the new shadows giving info, adds a new element to the game and makes you think about retaking a site!
