Counter-Strike 2

Been surfing on CS2 for months with no issue. All of a sudden I keep hitting ramp glitches ( where you lose all speed completely )

Any ideas ? I play offline

Started playing this recently after figuring out how to get into ranked matches.

Never enjoyed CS:GO, but I like how CS2 feels.

My premier rating is about 3.5K after about 20 wins, so safe to say I'm pretty crap.

It's a complete lottery playing with randoms.

I wouldn't say that is crap, bad luck with the teammates seems more likely.

Fair.

I suppose I'm comparing to other people of the same rating, as it seems as if there are some truly shocking players around this rating...!

I've played Counter Strike since the early versions on dial up, 1.1, 1.2? Never actually played 'competitively', it's great when a few people are communicating.

Is there a way to play any of the old maps, can't seem to get the server browser to work.

The ratings are such a mixed bag. Contending with smurfs, other players who have the potential but also play solo. It litterally is a lottery. There are a few of us around a similar level who play, although admittedly I haven't been on in a while. Add me - pleyor and can potentially arrange some games at some point.

I gave up on CS long ago, and CS2 can't save it for me - it's just a polished CSGO with half of the GO issues exacerbated. A mixture of gettin' old and not being the spritely reactive teen I once was, and that there's no incentive to bother spending the time getting back to a decent level, because pretty much everyone 15k and upwards says it's basically just blatant cheaters everywhere.

When even people like WarOwl are saying they're taking a break from the game because of it, and that there's so many blatant cheaters openly posting their own content for months on end says a lot.

CS has an uncontested corner in my heart forever, but do I enjoy it now? Absolutely not.

Tbf, given that the game is free to play - it isn't that bad when you look everywhere else pulling low effort season pass after season pass.

I'm not saying it's bad and if you really want to take the game seriously it's worth doing, but I know that the majority of the player base has no interest in paying for a third-party service just to play more fairly.

People complaining about cheaters and smurfs need to move on from matchmaking and get on faceit premium. Less Russians, more team play, and practically no cheaters.

I haven't played faceit in CS2 admittedly, but from when I used to get sick of matchmaking in csgo and move to faceit for a few weeks (current elo 11k btw, so i'm not great):

  • Slightly less absolutely clueless team mates, but still plenty of brain dead Russians, this was before Faceit gave them their own servers to be fair
  • Smurfs still a massive problem. Was playing with two others and we were all ID verified, but were always matching with non ID verified people.
  • Maybe some cheaters? But probably smurfs. There's plenty of cheats out there that work on Faceit still.
I've worked out that to really enjoy Counter Strike these days, you have to be playing as a 5 stack. It becomes less about the result that way and you can still have a laugh.

If a friend does something stupid and loses you the round, you can make fun of them and laugh, we've all been there.

If a random braindead player has no concept of how the game works and throws a pivotal round when your four stack is having a good game, it's infuriating.

I think we're friends and you're a pretty high ELO, Faceit at that level is probably better as you've got a team of people who at least know how to play the game. I don't mind playing with people who aren't very good but understand roughly what to do and when and can listen to instructions.

I was in a MM game the other week where a random would throw smokes/molotovs in arbitrary positions in a retake situation on Ancient, no matter where his team were. Was 2v1 as CT with the bomb planted on B, he was coming from CT spawn, me from Ramp/T Spawn, just molotovs ramp so I go back to go through cave and then smokes cave off?!

@JoeBoi I've added you, maybe catch you for a game at some point.

I've never been interested in skins, containers etc, however I've got to say I'm impressed with the sheer magnitude of the steam marketplace.

Started selling all the random trading cards and £0.03 gun skins I'd accumulated, to net about £2.50. Splashed out on 'Factory New MP7', I feel so hip and cool.
