Couple of Corolla T-Sport questions!

Only kidding I'm sure it will all be lovely

I know you don't mean that, you don't have to pretend to be happy for me just because I'm not listening. You're entitled to call me an idiot if you wish... But I'm hoping that my train of thought seems at least a little bit more logical after the post I made above? :p

Some of the people in this thread are pansies. I bought my Gt-four blind off ebay and did a 450 mile round trip to get it. Car has been fantastic and had it for 3 years. Bought a Primera GT without test driving it and had that for 7 years problem free. As long as you know what to look for you should have no problem. All cars I have purchased have had a long ticket on them so I would use that to bring the price down.

Well done, you've seen through my cleverly disguised sarcasm

No I don't think it makes sense, because I think they're very very average and only worth buying if dirt cheap - so the second you have to spend any money on it you should just have bought something else, or the same shed for a grand

As I said, I am happy to walk away despite...

You won't though will you? You'll buy it regardless of what you find when you get there. Your entire tone screams 'I want to buy this car', I'd not be surprised if the thing was pouring blue smoke out the exhaust that you'd still convince yourself it's a cheap fix and worth it :p

I'm sure some people here would wager more than your £100 deposit that you'll be bringing that car home even if you're bent double pressed against the windscreen trying to fit in that dodgy broken seat :p

Look, I fail to see what is wrong with putting down a deposit on a 10 year old grey Toyota which I haven't seen yet, which has hardly any MOT, a broken drivers seat, and has been owned by a woman who knows nothing about cars!

Nothing can possibly go wrong. It is the perfect situation! :p

Did I mention that it is currently SORN and yet she is happy to take me out for a drive? :D

By post #150 we'll have found out it's also a CAT A write off, stolen, imported from Mexico, formerly owned by Quentin Wilson and currently owned by an investment consortium that you need to buy out for another £500.

Ditch it, get a loan and buy my type R

One careful owner and one maniac - you'd like it

I'll throw the service book in the bin and break some stuff too to make you feel a bit more comfortable with the transaction

Now that you come to mention it.......

It also has lots of recent service history documents missing, and the owner has relaxed a bit and her emails read like she is off a rough council estate. (she isn't) - though I've never read "aint" in an email before. Thats new! :p

Missing Service history stamps don't mean jack s..t my 2004 ST220 ain't got any service history and it's a minter according to my mechanic :D and I've had 14 trouble free months. Touch wood!
Just go and have a look at it and if it's crap walk away. Just treat it as an expensive day out. Don't let her charm u into buying it though with being a woman lol

For £2000 it's pretty cheap with that mileage.

I bought mine with an issue and fixed it for £50. would have cost the public easy £200 for a new water pump and labour.

The MOT isn't an issue to me. If the car seems fine then it probably is. The seat is an instant fail so you need to sort it out. Hence why she isn't doing the MOT. It's highly unlikely it will need anything other than breaks sorting.

Also if you think the car is fine go for it. No one else has seen it.
I bought mine with a damaged water pump like I said. Drove it for a month before replacing it. The money you save buying it can be used sorting it out.
And I only have 1 key. The other got lost when I moved and I've serviced the car myself with my mate who's mechanic. I don't see how that would put people off if they have receipts for everything.

Yep people getting too hung up on the MOT and service

Mines not been stamped for years, but then again the guy I bought it from was an enthusiast, could tell me everything about the car and had all the receipts for the services and parts... He had done loads of preventative maintenance at huge cost so I wasn't worried that it didn't have some ink in the book.

Mine also only had 2 months MOT but I knew it had been so well looked after that I didn't care - sure enough it flew through without a single advisory. Then again, if I had asked and the seller was cagy about it then I'd have backed off. I can think of several places I could probably get an MOT before lunch tomorrow if I wanted one so the time is no excuse....

I don't think that car is a shed but I'd not be putting much faith in it.. Taking a day out to see it is one thing but you should never gamble anything you're not willing to lose - if you're happy to chuck away £100 then you probably won't be buying a 2 grand car, so giving a deposit just feels like a desperate move

So to confirm.

You paid a £100 deposit for a mediocre warm hatch you saw on eBay with next to no MOT, currently SORN, missing service history for the last few years and driven by someone who has been driving for years with those ridiculous tints and speaks "like she is off a rough council estate".

Should get something French to top it off.

That is correct. Though I feel that the statement is more amusing if you point out that it is a 10 year old grey Toyota, like I did. :)

Also it isn't a "warm" hatch, it is a hot hatch. You can't decide to call it "warm" because you don't like it. Unless you also think the Civic Type R, Focus ST, Golf GTI etc are "warm"?
