COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

The survey also found:

  • Almost one in 10 UK residents ( per cent) surveyed only wash their bathroom towels twice a year, equating to over four million people (4,255,056)
  • A third of UK residents (33 per cent) surveyed wash their bathroom towels just once every three months, this equates to over 17 million people (17,552,107)
  • Those surveyed in Leicester and Glasgow are most likely to go the longest without washing their bathroom towels, with over four in 10 (41 per cent) from both cities admitting to only washing their towels every three months at the most

WTF is wrong with people, disgusting.

Well don't know if it's a random instance of COVID, been off work 6 months, back in and suddenly I get a cold (mild) followed 4 days later by a chest infection (weirdly mild again), hoping it's gone by tomorrow, I don't feel tired, no aching, very, very unusual for me to function with a chest infection!

indeed........ I must admit, when my wife moved in, she shouted at me as i only used to wash my home towels and change my bedding every other week (though in my defence i showered 50% at home and 50% at work with my work sports towel changed after each wash)

She does it now so it is every week without fail for both towels and bedding.

Lots of people seem to have it mildly now and only realise it is COVID if people get specific symptoms like complete loss of smell/taste, a small number still testing or the odd person gets the full works indicating it is likely COVID. The last 2 lots of what was almost certainly COVID around here 90% had little more than a slightly scratchy throat, some minor sniffles or a bit of a cough, and a bit of fatigue.

Something is going around here probably due to the return to education but so far not sure if COVID or something else - so far just the younger ones 15-19 kind of age range with mild to moderate fever and persistent cough.

So the 100% its a lab leak lot are going to have to give in now, well assuming they can accept science that is.

It is far from proof and not really different to the earlier studies - there is still a ~3 decades of missing animal variants of the virus which is unlikely though not impossible to have been missed.

EDIT: Also the S and L types of the virus were in circulation early on in Wuhan which suggests the virus was in (most likely human) circulation before Wuhan. Which only adds to the mystery.

Ah yeah so we skip over the beyond reasonable doubt part then.

I don't think it does provide beyond reasonable doubt.

Like with the earlier similar Chinese studies, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had some influence behind this one, there is a lot of ring fencing the possibilities towards a specific scenario and/or away from a specific scenario without allowing for there being other perfectly feasible explanations and/or even chance as a factor. There is still a massive gap in the natural origin which makes it no less or more "fanciful absurd" as an explanation as any other.

For there to be 2 variants in circulation there it most likely requires a fair amount of animal circulation already in existence creating natural reservoirs which are unlikely to completely vanish from the curtailing of farm animals, etc.

Dunno if related to COVID - Googling suggests multiple COVID infections can increase the risk, multiple people I know have had Shingles in the last few weeks, latest being my sister in law, ranging in ages from mid 30s to mid 70s. Never experienced that before in my life - and usually the 1-2 older persons every few years have been 70s to 80s. Probably just coincidence but all of them have had it develop about 2 weeks after going on holiday abroad - all but one to places around the Med.

Got an appointment for a covid and flu jab early October, guess it's permanent now.
I didn't know they'd opened them up, I've just this minute booked my dad in for covid and flu at the same time, I need to ring tomorrow to find out if i'm eligible.
Although the way things are going i'm going to need a boat to get there.
