****CRACKING deal on 4GB 8500 Kits from Kingston @ £39.99 Inc****

Ran Prime 95 for 40 mins no errors cpu temp 58 think this is classed as stable ?

Your only unnng the Ram at stock so it should be stable 24/7
Does your CPU not go higher ? You should see better performance if you clock it at 400 * 8

Get your ram overclocked too

I will try for higher tonight Im hoping for at least 3.4 ghz if the temps only high 50's under full load at 3.2 ghz.

Is lowering the mutiplier and going for a higher cpu fsb going to provide better performance then ?

Whats the max overclock seen with the kingston memory so far ?

Ta

Yes you would typically see an improvement as the FSB is running faster, the faster = better basically, but its a balance between cpu speed also.

Use prime 95 or something like that to gauge speed differences, keep a spreadsheet with FSB/Core speed and Ram timings etc for each test and and adjust until you ge the best results.

Make sure its stable though.

Would this be any good on my system? I have never modified my (mesh) pc. Here are the specs if they make sense to any of you and you could advise me? I just want to keep my system reasonably 'current' but I don't know if these are compatible (or necessary) with my system?

Hey CoolHands,

Welcome to OcUK forums! :)

Your system is using a single 512MB stick of PC3200 aka 200MHz/DDR-400 memory . . . this thread is for Kingston DDR2, no good for you.

I think Socket 754 is single channel memory only so you just need a 1GB stick of PC3200 to add to your 512MB stick, unless you need more than 1.5GB?

Excellent deal got mine last week booted straight up @ 5-5-5-15 [email protected] runnng at 1:1 with my Q6600 Slacr purring away at 3.6Ghz this stuff seems to be on every motherboard manufactures QVL so you really can't go wrong tons more stable than my OCZ 1066 which struggled to post at stock settings!!! however the kingston seems to struggle north of 900mhz with those cpu settings.

Dual booting with 32 bit versions of XP pro and win7 showing 3.5gig visible and it DOES make a difference when gaming and when we all upgrade to win7 64 bit everything will be at peace with the world!!!! lol

Check out this dump at cpu-z

Ok I stuck my second set in and ran memtest version 2.11 ran test 5 and it fails.

i have put the MCH (northbridge I think it is) up to 1.72 which is the max I can do.

Can anyone help.

4 sticks of 1gig used to work when I first got the board.

hmm I tightened the timings to 4-4-4-12 with 1.9v at 800 and got lockups did the same at 667 to match cpu at 1:1 ratio got lockups. Set it back to spd 1.8v ath passed memtest 3 times no problems. Bizarre especially the lockup when underclocked. Will need to fiddle more with this.

Just got mine delivered to work :)

Thers no sticker on the RAM stating its required voltage and timings!

HELP!!!!!!!

Fron OcUK webby

DDR2- 1066MHz at a latency timing of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2V. The SPD is programmed to JEDEC standard latency 800Mhz timing of 5-5-5-18 at 1.8V.

Ok

I put 2 sticks in memtest failed. Swapped slots memtest passed.
Put the other 2 sticks in the slots that failed, and memtest passed.

I put all 4 sticks in and passed memtest on 2 passes.

@ 1066 2.2v 5,5,5,15 MCH 1.51 (I think)

Strange how it failed first time round.

Fingers crossed it stays working.
