Cricket World Cup thread

Oh dear Flintoff sacked as Vice Captain..tut tut naughty boy hes turned out to be:p.
Quite rightly too, fair play to the management as well for having the balls to discipline him.
Makes a bit of a mockery of the PCB's ridiculously lenient treatment of their players who step out of line:)

nice knock from colly and nixon at the end there. I'd say fred has lost his chance of ever being england captain again. Its a funny story but obviously these guys need to watch themselves when they are representing their country. If they lose this today it will be bad day for England cricket.

edit: bob woolmer the pakistan coach just found unconscious in his hotel room. Worrying news that!

Good batting from England there. Should be easily defendable I hope. Come on England!!

As for Flintoff, I had a funny feeling he would be one of the players involved. I remember him at the football world cup being interviewed and he was ****ed out of his head.

It's worrying about Flintoff, hope he is not becoming the Gazza of Cricket.

Apparently he was warned 4 times in Australia for his drinking and was famously hammered on the bus parade when we won the ashes in England (which is ok-ish because it was after the series, great scene’s them especially freddy slurring his words to thousands..lol)

But WTF Freddy Capsized, pedalo, rescued and 4AM are not good terms to describe your behaviour at the start of the world cup.

Dont be soft. The press have been after him for drinking since 2005, this was bound to happen at some point. Its been blown out of proportion.

Cricket is psychologically tougher than most sports, especially on long tours. Flintoff has had a difficult 5 months, with a lot more personal abuse than his has been accustomed to. He`s a nice lad, but was always going to need to let off some steam. Maybe it could have been better managed before this week.

Seems to have been dealt with reasonably sensibly by the team, and the issue should drop. Unfortunately I can see the press tugging at this thread for a while and trying to force it into an AA-type situation. Completely unnecessary.

Coach Woolmer rushed to hospital
Bob Woolmer
Woolmer took over as Pakistan coach in June 2004
Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer has been rushed to hospital after being found unconscious in his hotel room.

The 58-year-old former South Africa coach, who played for England between 1975-81, was discovered at his hotel in Jamaica at 1045 local time on Sunday.

Pakistan were eliminated from the World Cup on Saturday after losing by three wickets to minnows Ireland.

Just confirmed on Sky that Bob Woolmer has been taken to hospital and is still unconscious.

You'd have to think the stress of Pakistans performances may have contributed to whatever has happened to him.

Hopefully he'll make a recovery but don't sound to good atm.

JUST FOR FUN

Submit a predicted total for Canada's innings with a five run margin and your central figure (mean) been your precise score.

I will say 129-134 (132 accurate)

play along if you want. (i will keep record of all those that do and announce the winner after the game)

C'mon it's Sunday chill out

I hope Bob isn't too bad, a pretty awful couple of days for Pakistan.

As for Freddie, serves him right, he's had enough warnings.

Apparently some places are now reporting he has died :( hope they're not true.

edit: Being reported on Sky news now so looks to be the case.

****, always seemed a genuine nice bloke & a future England manager, ****:(:(

that is totally devastating news. Has really overshadowed the Irish win and indeed the whole tournament. RIP

edit: Jonathan Agnew just confirmed the news on TMS
