but its not 800 is it!
it went from 250 yes 250, to 1000 - that to me means that I can have just that little bit more faith in someone as they would have a long post history to judge their general attitude and they have made a reasonable effort.

the point is that it should never just be down to 'chance'

and your post count has nothing to do with trusting you, your complete misunderstanding of the reasons this has been put in place makes you sound like an ...

I sound like a dot dot dot, that's mature. The whole suggestion that someone will sit down, review 1,000 posts of a user to decide if they are going to buy from someone is just absolutely ridiculous and in no way shape or form does it mean you will not in anyway be ripped off. Buying second hand items, or even brand new items through a forum without any sort of law or protection is a risk.

I find it interesting that people who are complaining say they don't have time to post yet obviously feel they would have time to sell, haggle, post and package goods or scour the markets 1000's of tems for a bargain? It doesn't take much to contribute a post on the forums every now and then.

fully agree with the new criteria.
and even once they get over 1000 posts, as they will have no trust, they will still have to post first ;)

having had been burned once in the MM, it was my own fault, as i trusted someone with no trust and he had only 300 posts. But it did not put me off from buying some things.
i will say that the mods/dons in the MM do a hard job, very well.

also its been already mentioned, but the MM is a bonus for members here, if you are only signing up to just get access to the MM, you are the type of member we dont really need on here.

It seems that some people think the 1000 posts is to weed at the dodgy traders, but that was not my main reason for increasing the post count.

There are plenty on MM users with 3/400 posts who are honest people selling/buying in the MM. One of the main reasons for the 1000 posts is to stop people signing up purely for MM access!

That is wrong and needs to be curbed. Yes sign up, but get involved in the great community that OcUK is. Post and be helpful and before you know you will reach the finishing line.

Why do some people find that so hard to understand. :(

What about them? If you want to use the service which is a bonus not a right. Become part of the community. This is exactly what it's trying to stop, is people just joining for the bonuses and not contributing and not being part of the comunity.

I've been checking these forums basically everyday since I joined in 2008 so I feel I'm a lot more a part of the community than those with less than a year here who have 1000+. Bit of an annoying change since I've made a conscious effort to start posting more for MM access, guess that idea is put to rest as it will take a another few years at this rate :(

I never use MM (distances, y0!) but this seems like a very good idea. I'm also loving the "I've posted 3 times in the last 11 years and have in no way contributed to the community but it's not fair that I can't benefit from the community!" posts.

I'd also like to be enlightened.

Kmthis, guy bought case and blue ray drive, said everything had been posted guy never ecieved case, buyer asks about case and seller said he never sent it as it got broke buyer asked for refund which took about a week and. Half to get half a refund and still not got the rest
Also the other one was guy sells 2 graphics cards one arrives not as described and other didn't arrive I think

Sorry about grammer I'm on my phone ;)

Well said. I've began to notice the same names constantly selling stuff in the MM recently who have around 300 posts and most of its been hard drive based profiteering. Its really annoying to see as well as I actively avoid dealing with such people as most of the long standing MM users try and do the best for fellow members instead of just trying to earn cash with no "after sales support" and utterly **** communication skills!

Obviously, I think the changes are a positive thing and I hope that the MM returns to its very safe environment.
