Crysis experimentings

Not sure if anyone has had similar problems, but if I put the two texture PAK files from Rygels and HD foilage pack in my crysis/game folder, they don't appear to update in the game itself and it uses stock textures. Must be doing something wrong somewhere, perhaps a reinstall will fix it. Reallifesis working fine though, be nice to find an updated version of the depth of field though, set to 2 it's too much, and set to 1 only seems to work in iron sight view.

PS thanks to Centurion for linking the HD foilage mod :D

I have the same problem, not sure why, and thanks Centurion!
Now I just need to get it working. :)

Here's the solution to get foliage and rygels working together:

1. Open rygel's textureupdate1 using winrar, also open the hi res foliage pak in winrar.

2. In the Hi res foliage pack, navigate the folders, until you get to the folder which contains folders like bush, trees etc

3. Navigate through these on rygel's texture update 1 too. (it's the same folders you navigate through.

4. Now, look at the folders that the two paks have in common. Delete the common folders from Rygel's pak.

Problem solved. The problem is created because both texture paks contain new foliage textures :)

Great job Centurion, great thread for those of us coming back to this with new rigs.

MeMeMeMe, thanks for the reallifesis installer, but when I tried it last night, AVG picked up a couple of trojans in it. Does anyone know of an alternate source for this? Very keen to try it out.

I'm pretty sure it's okay. Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebites Anti-Malware found no threats. I stopped using AVG and Avast for the vast number of false positives they reported.

Edit: in fact, I can open the exe file with 7zip, and there is nothing suspicious in it.

Sorry, did you say the Extreme Quality Mod disables the nanosuit? that would kind of ruin the gameplay for me

It does, or at least it did. But instead of the nanosuit, you get slow motion.

The guy who made it has now renamed it to Extreme Immersion Mod and I think that in the new versions, the nanosuit still works :)

Does anyone have any links for lifesis or ccc oncfig or hi res foliage that work? I cannot d/l anything form Guru3d and no other links form google are working!

And the hi res foliage link has been posted in this thread, just up the page ^^^

Anyone else get the issues nights seens are ridiculously dark with real lifesis installed? Like I can't see a thing! Except the odd bit of light and gun lasers.

Thanks for that, testing now.

No but I am getting significantly lower FPS with lifesis

46 down to 41
45 to 40
and action scenes down from 44 FPS to 33!

Also how do you know if the real lifesis TOD is working? The instructions are unclear:
The ToD:

either place it somewhere in your \levels foders or open up the SB2 editor and go to the terrain\Time of Day editor then import the ToD and add your prefered play speed :)

for playing it ingame and not in the editor (in the words of Insanto :P)

" you ave to "file/export to engine" first.
also if that doesn't work press record in the TOD tab and slide around once, then export again, then it should be in the gameFiles indefinately "

To use the flowgraphs:

open them in the flowgraph editor and save then export to engine as well

RECOMMENDED PLAY SPEED FOR TOD
0.0025

I put it in the 'levels' folder but cannot see any changes in game other than the critically reduced FPS. I will try the high-res foliage MOD but honestly I think I'm going to go back to vanilla Very High Crysis as it runs smooth (40 - 46 FPS) and is still the best looking game I've ever seen.

Dunno if it should be like that. But that's realistic! In the pitch black of night, you can't see a thing! The mod actually makes you make use of the night vision feature

I think the instructions are wrong on reallifesis. You need to install it via the sandbox editor, as it says in the instructions. All you've done is a move a .tod file into your levels folder, that doesn't actually install it. So your drop in fps cannot be down to reallifesis

Also, use the config that came with it :)

Wow I really see what you mean about the 'high resolution foliage' pack. That looks absolutely beautiful - that's exactly what I was looking for. I don't want mods that change the gameplay or are too fiddly and messy to set up, I just wanted some bonus eye candy - that foliage looks really sweet. I think I'll email the guy who made that and tell him how great his work is.

The foliage looks so much better now. No performance drop either :D

maybe you should adjust the gamma on the monitor to lighten things up alittle?

I'm not going to change the gamma on my monitor everytime theres a dark spot in the game i'd rather fix the mod.

These are actually light pics. As you can see you see the light from the fires etc clearly but if you look away theres nothings. No fun really. I take the MOD off for these parts but prefer to fix it if it is a issue or is the MOD just meant this way?

Hiya mate, sorry I can't see your pictures atm, I will endeavour to take a look at some point though.

first question, are you completely sure that the mod has installed properly? Do you get a 'depth of field' blur effect when playing?

Also a lot of the time, you need to be stealthy. Use cloak mode, and night vision. Remember that in real life, in the pitch black, when there's no artificial lights around, it's very dark with only the light of the moon to guide you at all.
