Crysis experimentings

Yeah I has the DEF blur. I know what you're saying but i'd rather play the game the way it's meant to be played than just play in a blacked out screen using cloak and night vision to get around in the dark.

That's fair enough, completely down to personal preference :)

What do you think of the mod in daytime scenes?
 
sorry for the complete noob questions here, but im just after a little advice on what would be best for me. on the demo of crysis i get ~28-30FPS at best with everything on very high and AA on x8. my resolution is 1360x768. it can easily drop to below 25 FPS when im fighting.

i played the full game for about 2 minutes and my framerate was complete poo, so im updating to see if i get any improvement with version 1.21

i am planning on getting the high def foliage mod along with the extreme quality config to help that framerate go up a bit.

first question is, where can i download these (is crymod working yet or will i need to look elsewhere). 2nd question is do you recommend i get any other mod?

I'm not sure when crymod will be back up unfortunately. In terms of your performance, take the AA off. Pretty much all custom configs will use 'r_useedgeaa 2' anyway. Remember that you need to update to 1.2 before you update to 1.21.

If you find that after you use the hi res foliage mod and a config that you have a few fps to spare, I'd recommend trying to get a new TOD, such a RealLifesis.

I'm sure there was a link to hi res foliage on here actually, I'll look for it :)

also, after my failings at updating far cry, i made sure i updated the game properly, first updating to 1.1, then 1.2, then 1.21

ive worked out why im getting such rubbish framerate in crysis compared to the demo. there are 4 or 5 options in the full game that you just dont get in the demo. guess its high graphics for me until i find that config

Remember to turn aa off as this config enables edge aa. If you get 25 fps in normal crysis, you should get a few fps boost with this!

currently im getting only 20FPS on absolute lowest settings :(

however, on the demo i was getting 25FPS with highest. i am very confused

just noticed the install instructions on the high res foliage. i have also just facepalmed myself
still not sure what to do with the config though

ugh, this is going from bad to worse.

i've done what the install instructions tell me to do (put in the game folder), but now the textures for some of the rocks are dissapearing. i am now in a very bad mood, and tempted to trade this thing in if i cant get it working

as for CPU and GPU, check my sig ;)

Sorry, I failed. Yeah, you should be able to run very high at that res.

Yeah, I found that sometimes the rock textures did not load. But after a couple of play-throughs, the issue went away for me. Try playing it for a while and see if it still happens.
 
i wish i could, but the mod is also reducing my framerate from the 8FPS i was getting to about 6, and its giving me plenty of 0.000000001FPS bursts too

to be honest i would rather have the lower res foliage and non glitchy rocks, so if i can fix the framerate and the issue doesnt go away then i will just stick with the standard foliage.

might as well try the config and see what that does to framerate. does it have to go in the config section, or just the game section?

hmm, after seeing what happens when my overclocked profile is applied to my graphics card in MSI afterburner, ive noticed my graphics card is hardly getting over 50% usage, and is staying very cool (less than 55C)

time for yet another graphics driver reinstall me thinks
 
sorry for triple post, but it was my asshat graphics drivers again. a reinstall has got me some nice FPS. not sure exactly what FPS because i have to have Vsync on to stop screen tearing, but its locked on a steady 30FPS with the custom config you showed me.

now im gonna try and find a fix for the dissapearing rock textures for the high res foliage mod

i need vsync to stop the screen tearing. i am forcing it on at a driver level so im not doing it within crysis

just been having a wander round the internet and you may want to look at Xzero's water shader mod:
