CRZ Supercharged * 2020 revival *

Yeah A&B isn't quite so good. I get around 67 mpg at the moment doing that :p but that's with super accurate speedo as I up profiled the tyres on the front.

Oh no, still my proper lightweight chassis one ;)

lol cheeky!

Over the weekend I have had some thoughts about FN2s as all these K20 comments have made me think a little.

I have driven enough FN2s before but I'm unsure they are going to give me what I want from a car. Especially on the handling front.

I have driven three FN2s and your car on a number of occasions.

Stock CRZ Vs Stock FN2 then I would take the FN2 as it is a little sharper.
Your CRZ Vs Stock FN2 then I would take the CRZ as it is more unique and has more character
Your CRZ Vs Modded FN2 then I would take yours and Mod it.
Your CRZ Vs CW/10+ FN2 then I would probably take the FN2 as it would be better 'out of the box' as a car to drive. But ultimately wouldn't enjoy the economy figures of the CRZ which is a major factor in your commute now.

Uniqueness, is worth more than BHP imho

I like my cars to be as un-common as they can be on the road.

Keep the CRZ. Charge it, but don't spend £5.5k charging it. Spend as less as you can, and it'll be worth-while. 200bhp is enough for the road. It's about balance in cars/power to weight.

Anyone can drive a 400bhp in a straight line. Try cornering, and something light and agile will keep up in the twists.

My Polo is quite light and agile, but it wouldn't keep up in the twists. :p

Do you actually know what MPG figures you would see after the conversion? I've seen you say that it wont make much difference, is that an assumption or have you seen figures posted by someone somewhere?

Aye, agreed.

The FN2 idea would be me essentially doing a straight swap which would make more sense finacially but I cant let go of my car for something that I see 3 or 4 times a day.

Ok. Please elaborate :p

Simples, you have a dislike for them that I've only seen matched by the ***** on CTRO. The difference being that you're not just a bitter pre facelift EP3 driver who can't afford one and thus quotes Jeremy Clarkson at every opportunity.
All I can see that as would be a massive compromise on your part and I don't think you'd be happy. I compromised on silver when I wanted white and regretted it.

Oh my god someone is a little bit tetchy.

I thought you were going to have a constructive post but instead just picked up on mine and RJK's FN2 banter.

/facepalm

Except its banter with substance. Nothing you've ever said has been untrue :)
I'm not tetchy anyway, I don't see my car as an extension of anything. For constructive try rubbish economy for very average power

If you love the car and are planning on keeping it a while, I don't see why not. Although if you're concerned about running costs and MPG, £6k buys you a lot of tax and petrol :p

Fair enough, yeah that was a concern.

I'm surprised no one has made this comment earlier tbh. The only problem with that is that once the ^k is gone for running costs, it's gone.

Plus the thought of shelving 6K to pay soley for petrol etc is soul destroying as that is 6K you defiantely will never get back. At least with physical hardware (supercharger) you can sell it on with or without the car at a later date.

That's a fair point really and a decent way of justifying it. I think at the end of the day it just comes down to personal preference: on a forum like this you're just going to get loads of conflicting advice from people who all have different ideas of what is a "good" car.

Most Japanese cars do absolutely nothing for me, but the CRZ is a pretty cool car, and I can definitely see the attraction of having a fairly unique one. In your position, I'd probably go for something older, RWD, V8 and LPG if I needed sensible running costs, but if that sort of car doesn't appeal to you, you're left with cars like the FN2, S2000 etc, and with your requirements I'd take a supercharged CRZ over any of them.

I think they are way overpirced and old now man. Plus insurance is identical to S2000 for me and i would rather the S2000 out of the two and the S2000 isn't suitable for what I want it for so already made my mind up about them lol

Thing is nothing of it is old as a detremental feature over a FN2 and the value means it wont depreciate as much over any ownership experience.

It has more power, a rarer sight, a definate LSD and multilink rear suspension....

Infact I think im convincing myself now
