CS:GO Discussion

Right this seconds its the seconds highest game being played on steam with 218,417 people playing with todays peak being 566,556, second only to dota. So yeah its still big.
 
Uh, I tried to join a comp match and I got "You must gain at least 'Private Rank 3' CS:GO Profile Rank before participating in Competitive Matchmaking."

This didn't come up a few weeks ago?
 
the XP thing is new to CSGO with the new operation that started but there was a csgo update today which may have changed it too

didn't know it stopped you from joining matches.

have you played a match before?

Yeah, I'm still a newbie so haven't done the initial 10 matches of winning, have 3 more wins to go now, but no way I'm playing casual for that long to get XP if that is possible
 
You need rank 3 to play competitive which is a great move, I hope they move it even higher as rank 3 doesn't require much playtime to hit.

just checked and its been applied in todays Update of CSGO.

rank three is easy to get just by doing the missions
 
Just means that they will have to spend so many hours in casual or Arms race before they go into Compets, besides a lot of smurfs will already be at rank 3 from compets and this should have been introduced when the patch was originally dropped
 
Getting tired of playing with players who don't understand basic strategies.

Won 1 game in about 15 which inevitably ended up with me deranking into the silver league.

Wish there was a way to play against players who are also playing solo, rather than playing against groups.

Haven't even got a rank yet, and get capped to 2 wins a day, now I have to play a bunch of modes I have no interest in, before I can be capped at 2 wins a day again? :/.

Yep, rank 3 is correct.

need to have 10 wins and a rank 3 now iirc to start matches.

you can get that by doing the missions in the operation
 
Wut, how would needing 10 wins in competitive work if you can't play competitive to get the 10 wins? :p.

I've never understood what the operations are in CS:GO, cba paying for them though.
 
No you don't need 10 competetive wins as that makes no sense.
You need the profile rank to be rank 3.
This doesn't take too long and if your new to the game then you're probably best of in the non competative modes anyway to start with.

I think its definately a step in the right direction, everybody cries so much about smurfs in the game and when valve do something pretty much unobtrusive to combat it they then moan at valve.

Operations this time are pretty much pointless, used to be worth doing if you were interested in skins but not any more as its limited to one drop a week which you still get if you don't buy the operation.
 
I've no real interest in the non-competitive modes, so will probably just stop playing. Played 3 hours or something at the weekend in competitive and only got half a level or something, cba doing 5 more of that in modes I find boring as **** :(.
 
Does anyone know the best settings to use to play this on a 21:9 ultrawidescreen monitor? The res only has normal widescreen settings and then it still doesn't look right.
