Unforunately it offers absolutely nothing new to the series. In some ways it has taken a back step from what the last version offered. I hear it was an attempt to bridge the gap between 1.6 and source CS games but frankly that just won't work very well these days.
FPS need to add a lot more than what CS currently offers. The genre has expanded and moved forward. With all the AAA titles in the FPS genre offering a greater sense of depth, progression and meaning CS:GO is a game that has arrived some 10 years too late.
They would have been better off not making this game at all or taking it in a new direction, rehashing it does nothing for no one.
Even the graphics are inferior to source (at least from what I can tell).
Think ill stick to BF3 thank you...
I think all the cs players will disagree with you and glad it hasn't "moved forward".
You think it won't work well yet a lot of the top teams from both games have officially moved over to CS:GO, and some old teams have come back to start playing competitively again. I'm really looking forward to the next lans.
There is no depth to COD or BF3, just horrible perks and vehicles that make it ridiculously easy, and boring.
I used to play CS 1.6 competitively in a top league team on clanbase, we shifted to source shortly after it came out and shortly after that I left for other things.
Playing CS:GO did bring back some nostalgia but frankly it wasn't enough to keep me. Sure the newer games like CoD and BF3 have a lot of fluff and unnecessary graphic effects but frankly they add more of an enjoyable package than CS:GO. I just feel like there needs to be more content.
That being said ive only tried playing the classic versions as frankly the gun running modes are something I hate on FPS games. BF3 has just adopted it and it is one of the worst things to have on an FPS.
So yea, CS:GO is useful for nostalgia but after 30 mins or so you realise how basic and mind numbingly boring it will start to get. BF3 has potentially the same problem but with weapon unlocks and vehicular play it does offer something worth sticking around for.
Id have at least expected some sort of character customisation with CS:GO. Even if its just picking a skin and slightly customising it...
Oh well im glad some people are enjoying it at least.
yeah BF3 is fun when silly things like sunglare blocking your vision of enemies infront happens... not . A game that rewards you for your skill not for time played to get silly unlocks and perks is much more fun

If you consider it to be basic then you obviously aren't being challenged. Get on IRC and play some 5v5.
If I could then that's all I'd be doing, but I don't get enough time these days - stupid 'life' stuff gets in the way![]()
From previous experience with competitive gaming in the CS universe I can definately see how that would be far better.
The issue really for me is that I don't have time to organise or even attend to things like that these days. Jumping into random public servers is the only thing I can really do and to which CS:GO is just crap. I get much more out of BF3 than I will out of CS:GO.
I can't comment on CoD as I just see it as a money grabbing enterprise and I havn't touched it since modern warfare came out. Unfortunately BF seems to be going in that direction too but thats something time will tell...

Do OcUK peeps tend to play on the same few servers?
I expect to suck, but if anyone's about and can recommend a server or give any pointers that'd be cool.
Haven't played an online FPS since the days of Wolf ET, which I loved, would really like to get back into something with a bit of team play cooperation and banter![]()
