*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Just tried this on my 5800X, 4070ti, running at 3440x1440 and getting an average of around 60-70 FPS in Night City. This is using the Overdrive preset and just switching off Motion Blur and Film Grain.

Very impressed and happy with the result. FG and DLSS 3 are really showing their value in this game and whilst the 12GB of VRAM is going to be an issue further down the road, I don't regret getting this over the 7900XT.

Will be doing another play through once Phantom Liberty is released.

I convinced myself it wasn't worth it either until I actually had a pc capable of using it.
Nice having the option. The quality of your display will also affect your perception of it as well I guess.

You could also be convincing yourself it is worth it to justify your purchase :p

Seriously though I'm not trying to convinced myself its not worth it, I genuinely thought it looks worse in a lot of instances. For reference I watched the video in 4k on a 55" LG oled TV

Lol, I'll try it shortly and see properly I guess. RT wasn't a factor though for the GPU, I wanted the most powerful and quietest card available, that wasn't AMD.
I'm not one of these people who tries to justify any purchase to a load of strangers on the internet :)

I would be surprised if anyone that games at 4k and/or in VR, and who bought a 4090, needs to try very hard to 'justify' their purchase. It's freaking AMAZING. :D

What version of DLSS dll file is best for this new RT overdrive setting, or does it not make any difference? Latest is 3.1.11, I'm guessing this will be optimal???

Currently getting 40-50ish fps at 3440x1440 with DLSS performance on my 3090.....

Tried this out today - it's really not very playable @ 4k on a 4090 - DLSS Frame Generation looks *really* smeary and whilst yes, you can use DLSS Quality with FG for a smooth (if smeary) 80-100fps-ish presentation, it *feels* very laggy.

Turning off FG results in you needing DLSS Performance to keep the FPS playable and there's obvious picture degradation there - perhaps these issues can be addressed with new DLSS .dlls - certainly the ones that come with CP2077 1.62 seem very rough in comparison to the previous, excellent DLSS 2.5.1

On the 4k OLED I think I'll be playing at RT Ultra with DLSS Quality (great fps and picture) and leave Overdrive RT for 1440p.

Depends what you consider playable

DLSS balanced with overdrive setting was giving me 40fps min 60fps max at 4k on 4090

That with G-sync on is fine for me.

I still haven't touched DLSS 3 with frame generation.

Balanced still looked a little ugly to me (and that's too low a framerate for my eyes - even on a VRR panel) - obviously it's subjective though. Overdrive certainly *looks* impressive and if people are enjoying it then that's great but I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a 40-series specifically to experience Cyberpunk's new lighting.

The cyberpunk expansion is coming the end of this year - just in time for nvidia to sell you a 5090 which can do 4k no FG DLSS quality for the bargain price of £1999 + free copy of game… you read it first here folks!

The DLC won't be using path tracing, and currently even my 3080 Ti can run Cyberpunk with max settings and Psycho SSR and RT lighting at 60fps+ 3440x1440 DLSS so I'm confident in being able to run the DLC flawlessly :p

I have explored some more and compared PT on vs RT Psycho on, in most places the difference is not huge, and you would not notice the difference, whilst some areas are distinctly different.

5090 will be next September 2024 dude.

I am very interested in how differently people perceive things... I notice no significant smearing or lag at all playing on my LG OLED TV! I am getting between 58-80fps with RT Psycho with Path and DLSS3 enabled.

There is a HUGE visual difference with Path tracing enable in many areas, imo it looks FAR better and more realistic than 'standard' RT, the main area outside your apartment at night looks phenomenal and I did a ton of comparisons last night with it on and off and the lighting look so flat with Path disabled vs enabled. Path enabled gives a beautiful enhanced 3D effect from light behaving far more realistically.

However, the performance hit halves framerates with little difference no matter if its on Medium or Psycho RT.

Gamers Nexus have done a good video covering this, explaining that in the scenes where it's less noticeable is where the game artists have already done a good job of the look of lighting and reflections in the scene to start with. Flip side of that is that some scenes can look worse because the now correct lighting and bounce, shadows, reflections etc that actually spoils how the scene was intended to look.

For me, I think it still looks fantastic, but if anything I'm more impressed on the massive effect to performance that frame generation gives. While still looking excellent.

I'm fascinated to hear you say that since if I switch back and forth between Ultra RT+DLSS Quality and Overdrive+DLSS Quality+FG, the difference (to me) is absolutely huge.

*Edit* Ok, after a little tinkering I've realised what it is (and why it may not affect everyone) - it's motion blur - DLSS3 FG completely ***** the bed in Cyberpunk if motion blur is turned on (which for me, it is - 'cause I like it) - try it!

Does the overdrive pre-set set LOD to low? I noticed my LOD was on low yesterday when driving out in the desert, wind turbines and trees were popping up not far from the car.

I changed it back in the menu, but I definitely would have had that set to High before changing from my custom setting to the overdrive preset.

The path tracing is undeniably cool in nicely curated screenshot side by side comparisons. However, in actual gameplay I'm really struggling to tell the difference between it and 'normal' psycho or ultra RT, and can't really justify the near 50% fps reduction, or having to play at Ultra performance DLSS to get fps back where they were, which sucks balls.

But, I'm a graphics whore, and knowing I'm not playing it at its best just bugs the **** of me. Anyone else?
