*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

If you're building a new PC then best to get a fresh new experience, hopefuly your new GPU can handle path tracing to benefit from the visuals upgrade, especially with DLSS 3.5.

The base game update also includes the new engine tech additions like ray reconstruction, higher system reqs etc.

Should i get the dlc for this or just play the base game without or does it come with extras that can enhance the main game. Im building a new pc in October so the dlc will be out then and i kinda figured its not a game ill play twice due to how much gaming time i get.
I bought cyberpunk on release day and put 4 hours into it but my "now pc" couldnt cope so i left it till i got something that could do it justice.

IMO the base game is well worth playing now. You can ignore the boring bits like activities, the main quest and some side quests are well written and there is deffo enjoyment to be had, even if the combat etc is a bit janky but the sum of all parts means it's worth playing at least once.

The base game is a side feature of its main purpose which is ray tracing benchmarking and screenshotting puddles.

Don't label Starfield as stutter free! It has no shader comp stutter but it most certainly has traversal stutter more frequently than Cyberpunk - Neither game has shader stutters though tbf.

Starfield's stutters happen every time you open the scanner, and when the next bit of area loads up or you pass an invisible boundary, which is frequent. Sometimes you will notice it, other times not so much, but it's more obvious when you oepn and close the scanner, which you use frequently so it's most obvious, whereas Cyberpunk only has a single traversal hitch when entering a new area and stuff needs to stream in and never during any actual complex activity other than driving/walking etc.

Hmm can't say I've noticed it tbh, I definitely notice it in other games though like hogwarts.

Only time I see stutter is when going in and out of the scanner UI, also one of my guns seems to cause stutter, one which has like gas effects explosion upon impact, aside from those 2 areas, it's nice and smooth. Well akila city is awful for perf, which is weird as neon looks better yet runs way better...

Game with DLC sounds best, it kinda integrates in to the story and also gives alternative endings. So if you do vanilla first you'll most likely want a new character to play through the DLC or you'll just be max level and smash through it

Preloads seem to be happening now for console gamers, looks like this week we may well actually get Update 2.0

Edit*

One of the devs made a tweet outlining that 8 core CPUs will be utilised to 90% with the new update and with PL, so to make sure everything is baseline stable beforehand. This game is likely to be the new Crysis for those that can't run frame gen maybe :p

Also AMD users no need to use mods for the SMT stuff as it's natively supported now.

The software technology didn't exist 3 years ago, nor did the now effective management over at CDPR! I firmly believe that this engine is now one of the most advanced engines on any game out and will remain so until Unreal 5 gets the DLSS 3.5 feature set to produce clean RT with no light latency.

Not sure how you mean that but in terms of gameplay features there is no reason why the game couldn't have been like that 3+ years ago.

Rendering features wise a more mixed story but in terms of ray tracing/path tracing and DLSS, etc. things have moved quite quickly during the last 3 years.

Given that we still play as V, that must mean one of the endings was canon, I wonder which it is, or presumably just any that mean they are still alive.
Phantom Liberty takes place during the main game, not after it (though you can access it even without having saves available - same as you could in Witcher 3). And apparently it is possible to gain access to a new possible ending through it.

Ohhhhhh ok that makes more sense. Forgive me but I've read nothing about it at all.

I'm really tempted to get the dlc and replay the game when released, was thinking of starfield but just not feeling it with that. Plus I just watched akira so that probably is swaying me toerag this again

Cd projekt red says the new expansion for Cyberpunk is very CPU heavy, they recommend a minimum of 8 cores and users should expect an 8 core CPU to run at almost 100% load. They recommend users go ahead and run Cinebench multi core test on their PC to make sure their system is stable with the CPU going at full load because that's what it will be doing playing Cyberpunk

There is a few more threads you have not posted this in yet Grim

I'm more amazed it's been 3 years since it came out. Played it for 10 minutes but gave up - decided for it to mature a bit more.

Can't wait to get into it now it's properly matured.

You waited this long. Why not another 12 more months so we all beta test the current release for you? :p

Haha it could very well be another 12 months. Operation get all these games done and dusted before kids is going very slowly (still have all the Mass Effects Remastered, Ratchet & Clank, properly set up my Sinden Light Gun and RDR2).
