Dark Souls 2 - Thread

Thanks Fenris.

Yikes, so the only way to get the Sunlight Spear is get to rank 3 for the Covenant, isnt that winning 150 invasions?

And Straid doesn't have Great Lightning Spear in my game. Does it only appear after a certain time?

Sure you're not looking in trade instead of buy? Great LS is just a bought thing, don't need a boss soul.

faith dont forget your

skeptics spice
ring of prayer +5 faith
lightning priests chime (change to dragon chime)
i think sunlight spear requires 55 ish faith
black hood maybe +2 +2 int and faith

Like many, I was getting really frustrated with Belfry Luna, so I put it in offline and tried to solo them. Incredibly tense, but I just, managed it. No estuary flasks left!

Started playing this last night, completed DS1 and loved it but have some issues/questions about this:

* Does the character move strangely compared to 1? They do some weird side step thing that's really unnatural.
* Not a fan of losing health every death, how common are effigies? On a similar common level to humanity?
* I remember the starting area of DS1 to be pretty hard (Undead Burg/Parish) but it seems that in DS2 its even harder. Climb up a ladder have 4 guys instantly on me, walk down a hallway have 3 guys charging at me - DA ****!

Anyway just whining, going from a level 82 char in DS, to this no-lifer is a big shock.
its nice though playing a DS game when everyone else is, going from seeing hardly any bloodspills and notes in DS1 to them being everywhere in DS2 is cool.

There's a ring you can find early on that prevent your health falling below 75%. It's a game changer :D Effigies wise I have about 20 or so at the moment -they don't seem to be in short supply. I'm actually finding it a little easier than Dark and Demon's Souls and, despite a few things, am enjoying DS2 more.

They aren't particularly common, but it shouldn't be an issue. If you are stuck in hollow form, you can just leave your summon sign and help someone on a boss and that will restore your humanity.

I just swap two rings of life protection and pay 3k when it needs repairing. I do it purely because i like looking human :D

Although a valid question is, using the rings, does that still count towards not dying in the game challenge? if so then wow, that challenge is broken with these rings!

Yes i prefer the rings in this one. I dont use them very often but its nice to know theyre there and can be used as much as you like.

any chance someone online now can be my guide in Brightone Cove, at the Chapel Bonfire?

I've been around this are for the last hour guys, picked up all the goodies but just dont know how to proceed. I keepo getting lost in the houses and then stuck on the bottom level where i have to use a homeward bone to go back to the bonfire. Need someone to hold my hand through this poxy little area.

my SL is 147 and SM is 1.8m

When you take the first zip line go left and take the doorway into a house, go to the far left corner as you enter and there should be some book cases which can be smashed to reveal a doorway, follow this through and then proceed right when you exit the house, drop down and follow the path that leads to the mines.

Yeah they saved my bacon a few times. Generally if i have an accident and lose a ton of souls i stick the ring on to get them back. (If u die chasing ur lost souls with a ring of prot on then u get another chance to recover them)

I have to say I'm a little underwhelmed at the difficulty of a lot of the bosses so far, I tend to have more issues getting to them than the actual fights themselves.

I've just made it to Drangleic castle after defeating the four great soul bosses, all of whom were pushovers imo. The old iron king and the rotten didn't even touch me. The lost sinner gave me a little to worry at times with the near constant attacking, and that giant spider was quite simple once you get his attack pattern sorted.

Hardest boss for me so far has been the smelter demon, just couldn't quite take him after he lit up his sword and I had to summon a few people as a distraction.

I'm at soul level 79 and have started to pump nearly all of my souls into stocking up supplies, upgrade materials and just generally buying all the spells and weapons etc.

I've just hit a point where my weapons are starting to lose their effectiveness and I'm on the lookout for alternatives. I've been using a heide knight sword +6, a fire longsword as backup, then idol's chime and a heavy crossbow on the side for miracles and a quick ranged attack, I need something with a bit more oomph to it now though :D

It's been a pretty good game so far, on par with the first Dark Souls, but still not as good as Demon's Souls. There was something about Demon's that just gave it such a great atmosphere, I was always worried about what was coming up and every confrontation felt dangerous. I'd love it if they ever made some kind of remake/updated version with Dark Souls 2 graphics and gameplay, that would be epic :p
