Dark Souls 2 - Thread

Really enjoying my faith/dex play atm!

Spending more points in faith as i am using heide sword which has lightning damage!

What other weapons should i take a look at? Should i also level dex high or just enough to equip weapons, then add lightning to them to scale with my high faith?

Also any decent armour for me? Im at earthen peak

Heide Sword isn't worth leveling faith for unless you need 50+ for Dragon Chime/Sunlight Spear. At +10, my mains Heide Sword gives 41 extra base lightning damage with 65 faith. Good armour would be Elite Knight/Alva from the merchant opposite the cats house, cheap, easy to get and very reliable at +10.

Thanks! Ill have a look at the alva set

What weapon would you recommend using with a high faith build? Or is it better to focus on the dex scaling of a weapon?

I do aim to use sunlight spear too, lighter armour too

Don't bother with scaling weapons, just get the base requirements of a weapon and infuse it with lightning, at 50 strength one of my characters does 540 damage with a large club + 10 w/ S scaling in strength that has a base damage of 360 + 180, then I grabbed another large club, got it to +10 and then infused it with lightning which kills scaling, and ended up with 600+ damage. All scaling besides mundane is useless, only a few weapons can outscale an infused weapons base damage, and it's only ever by a tiny margin, which makes the huge investment in a stat worthless when it could have been used for health/stamina/burden or agility. My personal recommendation is a claymore + 10 with lightning infusion, whilst having 20 strength/13 dex. Dex weapons are the worst for scaling too btw.

However Heide Sword is a great weapon for end game still, you could sit at 12str/dex and infuse it with lightning and enjoy a ton of spell slots/hp/stamina etc. instead of wasting points into dead stats (str/dex). Only ever use the Heide's heavy attacks though, they cost a little more stamina than light attacks and attack at near enough the same speed, with better tracking, big damage and a larger hitbox. Hell the second heavy attack is one of the best attacks for PVP, the amount of people that roll through the swipe and then get smashed by the stab when they try and counter attack... + the old leo ring... easy win. :p

Royal kite shield from McDuff is 12 strength by the way, so you can still get a 100% physical high stability shield without wasting 4 points for the Drangleic, however a fire infused twin dragon shield +10 is an amazing choice if you decide to get 20 strength for a claymore.

?????

Only problem is once every 2 years the receiver blows a fuse. Apart from that they work great.

I know a few people who can't even get theirs working in some games, DkS1 being one of them.

Cool :) pretty much what i was thinking as i stopped upping dex and have been putting mst points towards faith for lightning damage increase and miracles. Not got the ember yet but almost at iron keep then i will applie lightning to a few other weapons :)

A little. Someone further game might be able to confirm if stones can be bought from a trader, but I've only found 1 or 2 stones to infuse a weapon so far and I'm further than Iron Keep. You need certain stones to infuse to a certain type. Look in your inventory to see if you have any stones that you've picked up.

Oh right i thought you just give the small ember to the blacksmith and that opens up all infusions, didnt realise it then required individual stones for him to apply it!

Thanks

I love my Drangleic sword, it's at +2 now, I was wondering if it's worth it to upgrade it to +5. Would infusing it be better damage wise? My current starts are 45 STR 26 DEX.

I think she upgrades her stock once you have the King's Ring

Ok cool thanks! Ways off for me just yet :) if you remove an infusion, would you get the stone back?

Also i hear straids armour set grants a good boost to cast speed but requires 16int to use, as a faith character is the int investment viable? I imagine not? Or is there any faith related armour to boost miracles or speed

can you only infuse a weapon with one type or could i infuse the firesword with magic

No, one infusion per weapon.

You CAN however infuse a weapon with a innate element with the same or a different element.

The Fire Longsword is not one of the above fyi, basically if the weapon already has an element icon on the picture, it is infused. An example of an innate elemental weapon is the Heide Knight Sword.

i waited till the pc release for this and im glad i did im playing it on my tv with steams big picture and it looks so nice and sharp and fluid :)

played the first 2 on consoles, blight town on my ps3 can just go to hell :p

my opinion so far is that it is a good absorbing game which will take hours and hours of my life but its not as good as demons souls which i rate higher than dark souls.

its too easy i have been side tracked by the diablo 3 double legendary week, but wtf a bonfire next to a boss fight?

thats just too easy, and dark souls 1 made things easy but 2 is been very easy, im level 108 i think using a melee build got smelter armour set and a +10 royal great sword and a +2 halberd i made from a demon soul.

ill be going back to it and having fun but its missing the massive tension demons souls had and to a lesser extent what the original dark souls had.

Holy Santier's Spear, that thing is an INSANE weapon!

yeah its pretty cool. Though a bit of a stamina drain if u like the fancy moves. The DPS is excellent though. Put something like poison damage (either infuse or buffed) and its freakish. I vastly prefer the smaller-ish weapons to the large slow weapons. Im using it as a mundane weapon atm but will buff it with a variety of stuff (dark, poison, lightning, resonant weapon etc)
