Dark Souls 2 - Thread

Just finished my third character playthrough in DS1. Love this game so much more each time. Really been unravelling the lore and watched some speculation videos too.

Dont know if I should purchase and play DS2 yet though. Greenmanganing have it for 17 or 18 quid. Should I play it now while it's fresh in my mind or just jump in later?

Just buy it now,I think there's is a lot of players playing DS2 Sotfs ( amount of phatomos in the world).
Wait till Friaday evening G2A weeklysale will be on,and they're listing this game every week now.

Playing Scholar atm. I like a lot of the changes, especially to enemy placements. So far, Heide's Tower and The Wharf are much better environments imo.

I think it is a much better game.

Don't buy Dks2, get Scholar. The entire game is redone and it has like 40% more content. Extra 30% price for more gameplay than that and Dks2 the way it should have been... Good deal. :D

I'm done with the game. I cant do it anymore. I just spent the last six hours trying to beat a boss(Fume Knight) and I cant do it for the life of me. No joke, I've actually been playing a ****ing video game for six hours trying to accomplish one simple goal and I can't do it. Just cant do it.

I've don't some stupid things in my life but I cant honestly justify how much time I just spent trying to beat a stupid ****ing boss in a video game and it being impossible.

**** this. **** this game.

Greet death my friend :)

You should try another area if you can, come back to it once your subconcious has sifted through stratergies, you might be suprised how easy it may become with a fresh perspective. :D

Gonna get Scholar today. Great to see it's still punishing people. Hehe!

The Fume Knight took me forever first time around. Fortunately you don't have to kill him to continue the story, so I just left him until I was a bit stronger.

Don't bother with the NPC summons - they make the fight a lot tougher in my experience.

Fume knight is bloody hard. Did you do the thing that stops him regenerating?... Can't remember what exactly as it's a while since I did it.

Personally, I found Allone, the next fight much harder!

Its different, but not in a bad way! I prefer the world and lore of the first game but this one was still great and i pumped a lot of time into it

I've heard similar things from my friends who have played it, it sounds like it's still a great game so I'm looking forwards to starting it!

Yeah layout of darksouls 2 so not as good as the first game. It appears that a lot of stuff may have been cut which can make area transition feel quite strange at times. Never the less its a great game and streamlines a lot of stuff from the first one.

If darksouls 3 combines the two games its going to be so so good.

Fume Knight was the biggest boss challenge I've faced in any Souls game yet.

Part of it was just my build/strategy, though. I'm running 2 handed great/ultragreat swords, basically no armor, no shields and I've also only put like 4 points into my HP.

I figured out his first phase *relatively* quickly. Still took me about an hour before I could get him to his 2nd phase more often than not, though. I could eat one hit, but that was it, and I had to make sure I healed right after cuz I definitely couldn't take a second.

The real trouble came with that 2nd phase. Was such a pain for several reasons. Main one is that I couldn't get hit once, by any attack. Was instant death. My other problem was that he completely changes everything - his moves and his timing, which tripped me up time after time. He could also recover super quickly from a bunch of his attacks. Took me forever before I could even last like 30 seconds in the ring with him, since one hit and it was all over. This made it really hard to learn his moves and his timings.

All in all, I probably spent about 8 hours over three days trying to beat him. I refused to summon help and wanted the satisfaction. And boy, was it satisfying. So far, he is my favorite boss battle in Souls along with Artorias, who was easier to learn with less moves, but was still an epic and fun fight.

Haven't done Alonne Knight yet, though. Heard he's pretty awesome, too.

I've never beaten Allone. I just find getting to him a ball ache I can't be arsed dealing with every time you die. The path to him just encapsulates the worst of Dark Souls II to be honest :(.

I agree. The whole Iron King DLC put me off the entire game tbh. The bosses were super hard for me, great I can live with that the Souls games are supposed to be hard. But running gauntlets each time to face the boss again was just too much and felt like it was just there to annoy the hell out of you.

Never even tried the 3rd DLC.
