Dark Souls gameplay discussion - spoilers ahoy!

Walk back out of the depths and there is a short stair leading into a tower with a sniper. Follow that way and you will open a gate at the top which takes you out right near the firelink shrine.

When used from the inventory Fire Keepers Souls just give you some humanity, you have to take it to a Fire Keeper to upgrade the flask. This is certainly the case on the PS3.

in that case i'll bet i wasnt paying attention and probs just got humanity. No bother.

Capra is dead havel is dead EVERYONE is dead except the hydra so im off into the depths now for some fun and games.
 
Away for the weekend so not had time to play anymore of this. I did manage to take Havel out second go on Friday. Pretty damn easy actually, just unequipped all armor, and kept back stabbing him as he tried to hit me, only took 4 or 5 backstabs.

Had been farming souls in Heart of the Forest with the mobs who jump off the cliff trick, was wanting to get 42,000 or so to repent my sins and unaggro a female undead merchant I accidentally hit. But in the end I couldn't justify the cost for the sake of some elemental arrows and the rest of stuff she sells, so spent it leveling up instead!

How is everyone finding ranged fighting with bows/crossbows? Other than getting the drake sword i've not really used it, is it possible to do much damage with bows if you spec for it?
 
gaping maw dragon down in one go that boss was way too easy considering you had to beat capra to even get into the underground. 25k souls a throw id happily farm that boss if it was possible!

On to blight town now
 
Just got the key for the depths. I levelled my dex and str high enough to wield the black knight's sword, hits like a train, but you have to be careful with the swing time.

I tried Havel, but he smashed my face in, so I'll go back later. I also killed the gargoyles, but as much as I tried, I couldn't hit the tail so no axe.

Currently on 10 humanities, getting lots of item drops.

I have the official guide now, 387 pages. It lists everything in the game, maps, items, bosses, etc.
 
Im stuck on Havel. First time I tried I was one backstab from killing him, now I can't get that close. I take off all my armour, and just sprint round him, when he swings i go in for the backstab, but now he just keeps catching me n 1hitting me :@

EDIT: Killed him, pulled him up to next level much more room

What can I make with the butterfly boss soul? Seems you can make a shield or spear? Whats best?

Damn I killed the gaping dragon and forgot to cut his tail off :(

I need to replace my drake sword, any recommendations? I have loads of tritanite thingys, some green too but you can farm then from the slimes. I read about upgraing the zweihander (sp), but I just don't understand upgrading at all. +5, +10, and then raw and fire and stuff! So confusing!

my drake sword +1 is doing fine? think your at about my level
 
It's doing ok, just bored of it ;D Just spent 20k souls to get the key to open door in darkroot garden. Time to farm souls using the trick ;)
 
I got the Drake Sword, I have enough str to equip it but it keeps coming up weapon in danger or something, how do I sort it? Thanks

u need 50 str to wield it dragon king axe. I got it as one my summons players got it for me 350 or 360 damage apparently. tbh dont know if i will use it. My build is a sortof paladin faith. Wouldnt mind another sword as well bit bored of the drake sword. Unfortunately it looks like i wasted some twinkling tinite doing +2 to the astoria sword....as it looks like the twinkling tinate is like the colorless souls in demons souls ie hardly any of em ha.

I want to upgrade my gear to divine weapons. But again i made a mistake and upgraded the knight shield to +5 when i shouldve maybe upgraded the dragoncrest or crest shield.

I do think the armour in this game is better than in demons souls. lots of variety. got loads of em, stone, eastern, shadow, knight, elite knight, glorious.
 
I upgraded the huge Zweihander sword, +5, then made it raw with the ember thing,, 225 dmg atm. Going to eventually make it lightning or something
 
The only logical upgrade from the Drake Sword comes from Sen's Fortress in the form of a Lightning Spear, before that unless you are upgrading weapons to +5 or more very few can match it.
 
dear lord.... whats even worse than the INFINITE poison wasp things that can dodge magic and the poison swampis the fact that you are fighting everything at what seems like - 3 FPS slide-ovision :( the slowdown is shocking really bad. Brings this game down big time....

look out for my msgs in here...no need to ask what i write....despair...incredible despair...im never getting out!
