Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Just decided to give this another try... I bought it on steam ages ago but was immediately put off using mouse and keyboard so i never bothered lol.
Just installed it again with the DSFIX and looks pretty good with a few mods and most of all it feels fun to play using the dual shock 4.

For people with experiance of using a couple of the different classes what seems the most fun to try?
I picked a warrior first as iv always loved a heavy hitter but just curious how the magic classes stack up fun wise...

To the DS pros who play on a 360 pad what cofig do you play with the standard layout buttons seem a bit meh to me... Anyone got a better config for a 360 pad.

Starting class means pretty much nothing. The mage can become a tank and the Bandit can become a mage if you want pretty much from the moment you can level up.

Pick whichever playstyle suits you. I'd recommend a mage for a future playthrough when you understand the game mechanics and know how and where to get things such as the more powerful spells.

The Pyromancer starts with the flame though. I would definitely recommend it as the starting class for new players, if you want to make it a little easier at least

Makes the early game far too easy in my opinion which isn't how the game should be played. It's like the Crescent Falchion +1 in Demon's Souls, it makes the first few levels loleasy.

I like starting as a Bandit, their stat allocation is perfect for a warrior, and you can get a pyro hand later on and that costs nothing but attunement to use.

Whats the warrior like if you basically want to stay as a heavy hitter/tank...i mean difficulty wise..i know this game is meant to be hard but id imagine some classes make it harder than others.

It's fairly easy if you turtle behind a shield with some decent armour and a heavy weapon. It's not easy per se, but it's easier than trying to roll around trying to dodge attacks using invincibility frames (A few frames in the roll animation where you're invincible).

My biggest tips would be to not neglect leveling up Endurance and always upgrade your weapon before upgrading your offensive stats as you'll get more damage that way.

Im finding this game addictive at the moment, ive had it for ages but never got past the gargoyles at the first bell, i let the game rot for a year. Looked up a few guides and im now at Anor Londo with a +7 Zweihander and smashing most stuff up....

I'm loving it as well, its the best £3.75 I've ever spent.

I'm in the demon ruins at the moment, after killing the Four Kings and Gravelord Nito on my first attempt. Using the Uchikatana + 15, 2H all the way!

Looking forward to DS2.

Having a right mare of a time with Ornstein and Smought, +10 Zweihander is doing good damage and im wearing good lightning protection but that bouncing fatty is a total pleb once i kill the other. On my fifth attempt and im always getting him down to two hits worth and then he just 'gets' me somehow grrrrr!

I had to summon for this one, take out the thin one first, i recommend drawing him away from the fat one, and when the fat one starts to get close run to the other end of the room and do the same as the fat one is slower so gives you time to deal with the thin one alone until he gets to you

Problem is if you take the thin one out, the fat one absords his power

Sorry just noticed you do take the thin one out first hmm im not really sure what to recommend then! Have you tried summoning solaire or other players?

Yeah i always summon Solaire but i swear he spends more time fighting those Giant Black knights so by the time i get into the boss fight he's already lost a quarter of his energy :/ I summon him and peg it to the bosses but that means im on my own for a good 15 seconds until he turns up :D

Demon ruins is by far the worst bit of the game, not due to difficultie it just feels like a bad rushed area compared to the rest!

OK Sally.

I didn't enjoy it when I tried the tank run. I like to run everywhere and found the game got boring because it just moved too slow.

Did you know that the bosses adjust their attacks to your roll speed? I noticed it on the sanctuary guardian when I was trying different armours. I could slow roll the attacks just as easy as fast rolling the attacks. It was like they give you a larger immunity window when you move slow.

Just finished my first run through of this last week. 45 hours of pain.

Then i realised i had missed the DLC so had to start NG+. Fortunately i've made it to the DLC in <6hours so thats a bonus. Seems hard though!

I hyped for DS2 but get the impression it will never be as hard as the original. It'll need to mix it up a bit if it is.
