Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

I hate Blighttown, its not difficult but all that poison/toxic shenanigans annoys me. Big area though, especially when you come in from the Depths, i got lost loads of times. Only place i hate more is Tomb of the Giants!

Annoyingly I still have not got a repair box nor a upgrade box. I need these as my Uchigatana dulls very quickly.

So, got to the bonfire in Anor Londo (the one on the balcony). This is as far as I have ever got before, I was rushed before this to a further level, but don't remember much as it was a rush. That character has since been deleted.

So from this point onwards. I'm totally oblivious. In the area I'm in now, I've previously cleared all rooms on all floors and left off in the room with the 2 HUGE giants. I will get to that point tonight.

Also, Tarkus is a badass.

Welcome to the hell that is Ornstein & Smough :S

I have a load of arrows, is this helpful? lol

Around 300 standard arrows and a long bow :(

My Uchigatana is now +10, I need the ember to go to +11 and then I will push it to +15.

At the moment though, I might level up my attunements and magic as I would like to use magic weapon (spell). And also I have power within.

I'm always pure melee so you should be ok with some magic, they are weak against fire. The actual hardest part is if you summon Solaire, he's right on top of the two giant black knights, you have the chore of taking them out beforehand or Solaire goes all badass and tries to take them both on, halving his health before he's even in the boss fight with you.

If I kill them, will they re spawn or are they gone? I might just keep at them tonight then until they are dead, not care about souls or humanity and once they are gone, then go human and do the boss.

They respawn. They are very easy though. Basically bigger versions of the big knights you have fought in the outside areas. They have the same attacks apart from 1 Magic AoE attack which requires a charge up so is easy to see and roll away from.

Urgh, last time I remember facing them, I got CRUSHED. I will try and defeat them first time. Maybe watch a video. Might be right though, might find them VERY easy.

I stupidly fell into the chest trap below the bonfire up in that building. In the hidden room where the fireplace is.

So need to get my souls and humanity back first lol.

Don't forget you can summon Solaire for O&S. I usually find it fairly easy to kill Smough first, but struggle with powered up Ornstein. Also iirc, there is some kind of weird thing where Solaire will lose a fair chunk of health from falling off of the steps, so I think you need to take it slowly for that bit, and guide him down.

If you don't know already, mimics can be differentiated from normal chests by looking at the chain on the right side, normal chests curve around whilst mimics are straight.

They also "breathe" slightly.

Tend to find staying really close to the legs behind and rolling a lot is best for me, hack away at them and just keep an eye out for the shield slam and the AOE like Podmonkey said.

Its pretty much my tactic too. as close as possible, shield up and just keep strafing around them. as soon as they do the shield slam, go 2h and hack away. down in 3 hits with my +15 claymore.

When first encoutnered, they do look a bit daunting and can flatten you in 1-2 hits but they are so slow and signal every move that they become a bit of a joke after the first couple of tries.

O&S are another pair that seem ridiculous on the first few meetings but have their easymodes too. Get Solair to distract the fatty, dodge and stab the midget then when its just the fatty left, just keep a pillar between the 2 of you, he wont get passed it as long as you are quick enough (under 50% load should do) and just keep waiting till he does his vertical smashes as theres a nice little recovery time, 2h stab and back behind the pillar. any AoE he does gives you time to just roll away from the pillar and all other moves you will be safely out of reach. slow and cowardly but very effective.

I want to cry :(

I have 2 more humanities left.

Up until then, I was doing great. I killed the giants out side multiple times when hallowed to test and they are indeed very easy and slow. My +10 Uchigatana makes mince meat of them.

BUT, I got invaded twice, one time I got my butt handed to me after I got him down to under 10% health.

Then the second, I backstabbed for the 3rd time, when he should have died, he rolled and instantly hit me doing so... The animation meant nothing when I backstabbed.

Anyway, last humanities, if I die this time, I don't know what to do :( I don't think I could do the boss fight solo.

I had a crack it it just now, managed to kill the fatty first (seems that's a mistake) as then the half health mage just morphed into a beast and was very hard to kill. Got him down to half health but I just wasn't good enough. Solaire died shortly before the mid way cut scene.

Given up. Really angry :(

Just put your soapstone down and get yourself summoned. It'll give you many more practice attempts and allow you to gain humanity in the process should you be successful. Honestly, O&S are more than doable solo, even with killing Smough first, they just have a very steep learning curve.

Yeah get the network disabled so you can just enjoy playing on your own. As for O&S, i share your pain, skinny is easy to get rid of but super fatty is a mare, NG+ with him makes me sweat! Look at some plays on youtube by Epicnamebro or HunterStarcraft, ive watched these guys play throughs and they really have made me a better player and thus enjoy the game more, even with frustrating deaths.

About to actually pick this game up and try for the first time... What is a good noob friendly class and what stat points do I want to pump?
