Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

drop rates don't increase after 10 humanity

I thought that boss was kinda easy only took two tries killing the non fat one first :D

Whoops mis-read your post lol

And yes they are, but killing the fat one first and facing Super Orn is nigh-on impossible solo :p

feels like a SNES game = making your repeat large sections of the game after each death is a cheap way to add difficulty IMO

There are bonfires and shortcuts everywhere, don't blame the game and call it cheap because you suck.

Love how I basically cannot play this game until I get a gamepad, no way am I even going to try on keyboard + mouse, the damn Asylum Demon almost killed me, I felt ashamed.

I killed smough and orn yesterday alone and I am damn proud of myself. 2 hours it took, hardcore.

You rock m8, I just got to them, I can take one out but as soon as the battle restarts best I can do is get whichever 2nd person down to half and that is all i can manage alone so far. I have no humanity either so I have put the cat ring back on, invade others in the forest I go to get humanity :) No one seems to be using my summon sign.

It's a cheap trick in my book too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not after free handouts at all and yes, my own personal in game fighting ability is pants, but I can take a beating in any game and am used to that side of it. Poop happens, as they say.

It's the dying in the same place over and over due to the cruddy PC controls and constantly changing screen view that grates quite quickly I find. You also can't tell me that the game is intuitive in any way, shape or form at all either. Some of the things you need to find on your travels for example, to either stop you dying for the twentieth time in one place (and with no clue on how to stop this happening ad infinitum) or that you will actually need to progress in the game full stop, are sometimes seemingly random items from random entities in a random area somewhere (how to open up the extra areas after Anor Londo being one major example).

Most people who play this for the first time on the PC I'd guess will likely have to ask for help a few times, look things up on youtube, look at an online map or three or read through a walkthrough on how to progress in quite a few parts. You can add to this the game's mechanics / controls and how to upgrade weapons for certain foe too.

All this being said, it's not a run of the mill game and it's refreshing in the main, but it's flaws (mainly due to it's console beginnings possibly) greatly detract from what could indeed be a classic I feel.

That sir is why this game is so great, no hand holding at all just like the good old days like on the Spectrum/C64 and Amiga. People from that era will understand how hard games used to be back then, this game almost recreates the feelings I had when games really were hard. Unlike todays games, younger generation who never had those machines will never know how hard games used to be. So for them Dark Souls is a moan feast

I don't get why they are moaning, what do people expect, to die and respawn behind whatever killed you? There is a bonfire basically right next to most boss fights, I don't understand...

Just got to some talking cat and joined her cult then I get a summon prompt to invade another world and can't attack anything in what seems like the WORST sort of server lag, but ofc I'm still taking hits.

What the hell is this event anyway?

Yup :D

Anyway i've finally managed to summon some people but have ended up dead before even getting to Smough and Orn, all humanity is now gone :(

Same boat as me right now, but I have the cat ring thing so I can invade the forest from where I am to get more humanity. Will be a PvP fest tonight :)

You get called to attack other Human players, the other people are kind of on your side in that area, you just have to hunt the human player and kick his/her butt, you get humanity and you steal an item if you win. Also other players can get called to attack them as well, other human players trying to kill this one guy will also be blue like you. Take the ring off and it stops, make sure you remove it when doing something important as you can get called in and after the battle you could restart in the area you were in back to square one.
