Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

God of War I and II were originally for ps2 so I won't count them. GoW III was cool but it just isn't challenging gameplay wise imo, I prefer games with a challenge rather than those with fancy graphics.

Didn't play it on Chaos then? Harder than about 75% of games, about as hard as Warrior/Mentor in Ninja Gaiden. Certainly harder than Dark Souls, well at least it was for me.

Snap, do you have a list of 5 that you find the hardest but most rewarding? Going of FPS so rather not have those in your list :)

Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, erm... Can't really think of any more, maybe Just Cause 2 on hardest, although that's easily managed with the stupidly abusable A.I. Probably Amnesia from what I've heard, and ArmA II. Civ 5 on hardest with high Barbarian is quite rewarding when you start to slightly break even. :p

I did have Ninja Blade on Xbox 360, nailed it on hardest iirc, not a candle to NG for terms of grinding.

DMC > all other hack and slash actions games in terms of difficulty. a lot will disagree, but you know why it is? Anyone, and I mean anyone, with enough patience, can grind through Ninja Gaiden/Blade & God of War etc. You'll die a lot but you'll get there, as is the case with most games.

Devil May Cry is another beast entirely, in order to truly succeed at it, you have to of course beat it on Hell & Hell mode with full SSS mission rankings. Nobody can grind that, get hit once? Dead. Can you block? No. Fail a few combos? Bye bye SSS rank. Waste your chances at building points by repeating similar combos? Again, bye bye SSS rank.

I haven't played Bayonetta (although I might just for dat ass ;)) but isn't it from the creators of Devil May Cry 1 or something? If so it'll hopefully be like Devil May Cry. But yeah, if you want some true satisfying, difficult games, grab some Stylish Hack & Slash games (an actual sub genre btw) like the two mentioned previously.

True, but I really have no target weapons or armor yet, i need to get that sorted.

Blight Town, get the chaos spells from the covenant, they were decent pre-PTD and have been buffed considerably from what I hear. I'd tell you myself but you know, kinda don't have a gamepad yet... :'(

Just killed those 2 guys, the dragon slayer fella and the fat guy with him on my first encounter with them, read no guides or whatever... so easy. Though I am lvl 62 with a 300 attack dmg halbred so they died pretty fast and was easy to dodge their attacks. I just lured the fast one away and attacked him and retreated. took about 10 hits on each to kill em. Had 4 sips of my flask left as well.

Pretty pleased :D

On another note I've just upgraded and wasted lots of demon shards on a +5 chaos blade and it sucks.... Do you need high dex to get the most out of this weapon? I'm mainly a Str build. I went for it cause it sounded so cool.

Hell bread? Jesus Christ no wonder, that'd kill anything fast!

;) as for Chaos you need to hoard humanity to increase damage, its great at lowish levels.

lol good one, thought the days of being forced to repeat content were long gone, not a big fan of a game being artificially lengthened by killing me through no fault of my own (fire from the dragon coming out of nowhere) then forcing me to repeat the content. Stinks of the old snes days where games would just insta kill you until you learnt everything by heart, which is just memorising stuff, not true skill.

Staple copy + paste of someone not good enough to play this kind of game. ;)

There isn't a single unfair death in Dark Souls, people need to stop trying to make the game into a scapegoat for their failures. Stop sucking bruh.

I don't need to inflate my epeen, it's just a game son. Being able to play doesn't make you a tough nut lol. To say there is not a single unfair death in the game is just fanboyism, makes me laugh how people get all butt hurt when someone on the Internet doesn't agree with them.

I'm not butthurt, I just find it peculiar when somebody sucks at something and then tries to blame whatever they suck at for them sucking. Then ontop of that trying to make out like what they suck at takes no skill in the first place because they can't do it. Applies to much more than video games, people with that attitude in life are losers.

Met Patches yet?

Unfair how? Same as the Helkite, its obvious what is going to happen, shifty looking rogue standing infront of bridge controls, need to cross bridge... HERP DERP *dead*. If you need a giant neon sign saying "this guy will drop the bridge when you cross it, find another way around!" then this game isn't for you.

LOL exactly, he got me though, I knew what he was going to do but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I didn't cry about the game sucking cause I trusted him, even though I had a gut feeling. I spoke to him after then I hacked the SOB down. Made me smile

He'd of probably got me too if I hadn't played Demon's Souls to death. :D

I've died as much as anyone but have never blamed the game except when the lock on system goes nuts and spins my camera around and veers me off a ledge. Other than that, you die, it's your fault.

People just assume you have to grind through everything to beat this game, because thats what most 'hard' games require these days, grind from one checkpoint to the other getting lucky. Doesn't work like that with this, you need a brain and the ability to press more than one button, a requirement most people will fail.

I'm getting bad slowdowns, doesn't make it unplayable and being on the pad now it doesn't feel severe at all compared to when your using a keyboard. Rendering @ 1440x900 too, not 1920x1200 and its still running like ****, much worse performance than the 360 for me, but From did take a massive dump on AMD so it's to be expected, need to go Intel asap. :(

I lost the flasks from taking on the Boar and all its little undead allies, didn't think to restock before I went back up. :D

Wait no actually I don't how I lost them. I'm gonna blame smoking for this one :D

Or I maybe fell up the top step.

Hours ago :p I think I engaged it, got raped, ran away and then sneaked back up to have another pop and killed it. Has anyone noticed when you get the camera really close to objects, such as the player (by walking up really close to a wall and jamming the camera between the player and the wall) it gives a really weird projected look, like the textures of the character/objects are being ran through a grainy old projector?

Here are a few tips for anyone who might benefit from them:

(Warning) 1080p images inside:

Shoot the Undead Dragon for an easy kill, free 3000 souls, a free dragonscale, a free faith scaled sword, a high fire resistance shield and a strong consumable soul. Costs 100-300 wooden arrows (3 souls each) depending on Dex + bow strength.

These guys are near the Undead Dragon, they aye easy enough to kill, but they are surprisingly vulnerable to backstabbing and have slow turning speeds. They are found throughout the swamps and shanties of Blighttown.
